Released In: 1995 The evil K. Rool and his Kremling army are back, and this time they've kidnapped Donkey Kong! Now it's up to Diddy Kong, DK's trusty sidekick from the first game, to rescue him. Diddy is joined on his quest by his girlfriend, Dixie Kong. Syd Lexia: So. fucking. good. Valdronius: This game lies in the middle of the Donkey Kong Country series, not only chronologically, but also in terms of difficulty and its extra features. Donkey Kong Country 3 had a LOT of extras to find, but I found the difficulty too low. Meanwhile, there weren't really any bonus games or hidden items in the original, and the only reward for finding everything in the game was bragging rights. I think this game had a good mix of the two. Sure, a Q&A bonus isn't all that exciting, but it sure beats playing the same animal bonus games over and over again. And if you do collect every secret item, the game does you the justice of giving you a different ending. The fact that Diddy and Dixie are my favorite characters doesn't hurt either. Douche McCallister: The best Donkey Kong game to date. It had a reason to go through all the stages again if you missed something, and the secret levels were actually challenging. This is one of the first games where I actually made it a point to get everything, and it definitely made the game that much better. But I still hate Dixie and her damn hair/guitar. |
