Gradius III
#52: Gradius III

Released In: 1991
Developer: Konami
Publisher: Konami

Blast off in the Vic Viper and battle the Bacterion Empire once again! This Super Nintendo port is actually BETTER the original Japanese arcade version as it features new power-ups, the removal of that crappy 3D level, a better selection of difficulty levels, and the option to actually continue when you run out of lives. That's right, the coin-op version didn't let you continue.

Syd Lexia: There simply are not words bold enough to describe the sheer awesomeness of the Gradius series. The SNES version of Gradius III is largely superior to the arcade version, save one rather annoying flaw: massive fucking slowdown. But since this was the first third party game released on the Super Nintendo, I'll cut Konami some slack.

Valdronius: Gradius is another great space shooter series, and this game gives you lots of replay value with its customizable weapons. There are six categories of weapons you can pick, and each category has four options. That's 4096 different ways to play this game! The only thing I didn't really like was the fact that you can't use both your double shot upgrade and your laser upgrade at the same time.
