Released In: 1991 This is the third game in Capcom's Ghosts 'n Goblins series, set four years after the events of Ghouls 'n Ghosts. Arthur and Princess Prin-Prin are just about to be married, when a demon swoops in and kidnaps Prin-Prin. Arthur pursues the demon to a graveyard, where he suddenly finds himself face-to-face with hundreds of horrible monsters. Arthur will have to battle these ghouls and ghosts, enter their realm, and defeat the Demon Emperor Sardius if he wishes to save his true love. Oh, and he'll have to do it TWICE if he wants the good ending. Syd Lexia: Here's another game they pimped on Nick Arcade. Back in the day, many people mistakenly referred to this game as Super Ghosts 'n Goblins and believed it to be the direct sequel to the NES game; it's not, it's the sequel to Ghouls n' Ghosts, which was the sequel to Ghosts n' Goblins. I was never a fan of this series, particularly the original game. These games are harder than they should be, which can be largely attributed to the fact that the enemies move quickly and you do not... I don't think I can think of another franchise where piss-poor controls are an intentional hallmark of the series. Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts is a lot more forgiving than the original game in this regard, so it's somewhat less frustrating. But it's still an evil, evil game and it WILL crush your soul and leave you curled up in the fetal position. Valdronius: Unless I'm told, I don't automatically assume that a game has a double jump feature. That can make it pretty embarrassing when you get stuck within the first five seconds of a game. And it's a pretty crappy double jump at that. The original game wasn't very fun, and I feel that this sequel has continued that legacy admirably. Murdar Machene: Who the hell can beat this game legitimately? To me, it just seems like you'd have to play it nine billion times in a row and win through rote memorization. It's not really fun or fair. Capcom makes some of the best games, they also make some of the most annoyingly hard ones. |
