I dunno if there's already a thread for this, but whatever. The idea is pretty self-explanatory, just list some of the movies that gave you trouble falling asleep at night when you were at a younger and more impressionable age. I'm gonna put mine in order, but you don't have to do the same and you can have more than 5 if you want. But anyway, here are the films that made me look like this smilie Shocked :

5. Batman

As if Jack Nicholson's Joker performance wasn't creepy enough for a child, I was absolutely FREAKED OUT when I saw the look on that news reporter lady's face after falling to her death after being exposed to the Joker's deadly chemical. Her face makes me laugh now because it's goofy and unrealistic, but it was different for me then.

4. Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade

The part where that guy chooses the wrong grail and starts aging ridiculously fast? Yep, that did it for me. Nowadays, I just laugh at the immortal crusader who states the obvious: "He chose... poorly." Lol, no shit?

3. Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark

The part where Indie tells that woman to keep her eyes closed? Yeah, I couldn't help but follow the very same instructions during that scene as a kid.

2. The Sandlot

Seriously, this is such a good movie. It has charm, laughs, a good story about a kid in his new neighborhood making friends, and it's one of the few flicks I know of with Denis Leary where he doesn't cuss (or at least I don't remember him cussing). But dear goodness, that giant dog freaked me out to say the least. The fake archive footage of its owner (played by James Earl Jones) that was narrated by one of the main kids gave me nightmares. Then again, I laughed at the end when the kid repeats "Forever, forever, forever...", so that's why this doesn't belong to first place.

1. The Twilight Zone Movie

The opening part where that man turns into a monster (played by Dan Aykroyd) was pretty creepy, but it was hard for me to be scared by Aykroyd. The first two segments aren't creepy at all for me, but it was the third where that kid had special powers that terrified me. Besides the fact that he reminded me of my spoiled, over-privileged cousin, it was the bunny that did it for me. I couldn't watch Bugs Bunny the same way again ever after watching this film. Honorable mentions go to the mouthless girl and the monster on the plane in the final segment.

Yeah, I'm done with my top five. I normally don't type very much, so this is quite unusual for me. I might mention some runners-up if I feel like it. Smile

For some reason "Fire in the Sky", scared the crap out of me when I was a kid. It's a "based on true events" movie about some loggers that are driving through the forest one night and see strange lights. One of the loggers gets abducted by aliens and gets space needles shoved in his eyes. I was convienced that the aliens were going to get me for sure.

Watching the movie again recently, it's almost laughable to think I was scared of it back then.

Gremlins: when Strip's skeleton jumped out of the fountain, I almost shit my pants

Batman Returns: Crispy Christopher Walken and the Penguins final scene.

Indiana Jones and

The melting nazis from hell or the live heart ripping from hell or the aging monster from hell

The T-Rex from Land Before Time

The dark Crystal: When the girl Gelfling's pet first appears jumping out of the bushes

When ET jumps out of the trees

Ghostbusters . . . too many to list.

First time seeing beetlejuice

Ernest Scared Stupid: That Troll thing was scary as hell back then

And pretty much any preview before the movie featuring a horror movie. I was easy to scary then and in some levels i still am.

Good call on Ernest Scared Stupid, those trolls were terrifying. Especially how they drooled all over the place.

Jurassic Park gave me nightmares when I was a kid. I'm over it now, unlike others:

One thing that scared me as a little kid was in the movie "All Dogs Go To Heaven" when Charlie has the dream that he's in Hell. I thought that was pretty scary. The whole theme about death in general in the movie was a bit unnerving when I was a kid.

Didn't the second movie end with the main bad dog surrounded by demons and his soul ends up getting claimed by Satan? I think that's how it went, although I could be wrong. If I recall correctly, then that ending is too much for a kids movie!

The only movie that scared me as a kid was Hollow Man, though I probably shouldn't have watched an R rated movie when I was like 8.
(Bare in mind I don't watch movies often)

I'm so bananas I'm showing up to your open casket,
to fill it up with explosive gases,
and close it back,
with a lit match in it,
while I sit back, and just hope it catches.

Blow you to fragments,
laugh,
roll you, and smoke the ashes.

I remember being scared by the Phantom. There was a scene where some guy was looking in a microscope or something and spikes came out of the opening and stabbed the guy in the eyes.

I would have to say that in more recent years the Winkies scene in Mulholland Dr., really creeped me out.

I used to do that shit all the time though. When I was younger and playing outside I would be constantly watching the treeline, anticipating a pack of raptors to poke their heads from out of the brush and attack me. To counter this I would play as far away from my house as I could, while still being within the appropriate distance to sprint back to the house just in case raptors did come. That shit sucked.

Terminator 2

The movie itself wasn't scary, but if you have OCD like me and you sit and think about how the world will end and robots from the future are coming to fuck you up.. and you are 11 or 12...

That part scared me too when I was younger. I would mention JP as runner-up.

Another honorable mention goes to John Carpenter's The Thing. Sure, that's one of the few actual horror movies I've mentioned (besides Twilight Zone) but I saw when I was older at the age of 12, so it didn't do very much for me like the others did. The part where that fat guy's head falls off and turns into some spider-alien-thing-a-ma-jig doesn't freak me out anymore but it still impresses me to this day because of the awesome FX!

I remember when my "fun uncle" (most everyone has one) was babysitting me and tried to get me to watch Hellraiser with him. I only made it about 5-10 minutes, but I will always remember how much he laughed about how scared I was. Pinhead is a scary motherfucker.

Someone described it to me once, I am still fearful of walking over storm drains at night. Imagine you look down and see a clown in there? Should it happen I am sure I will have a heart attack.
