Got to play an hour of this with my close friend and his five-year-old son (my godson). I general, the first frame in
this Penny Arcade comic hits the mark. The controls are easy to pick up and work well, the environments are both aesthetically pleasing and logical, and that Mario charm is in full effect. I would definitely purchase this if I owned a Wii U myself.
One of the levels I played was Beep Block Skyway in World 4. It features alternating/vanishing red- and blue-colored blocks that are needed to cross several bottomless pits. It was quite groovy, and the Double Cherry power up was really fun.
Oh yeah, I got to observe the Invincible/White Tanooki suit that Vert was rambling about. I say let the mechanic stay; there were some levels that were just too difficult for my godson to remain patient on, so I humbly endorse its addition.
