So, for this issue of the VGM, I am asking for everyone's help.

I am going to simply state the first half of a sentence, and all of you are going to help me finish it.

This is in the context of you talking to your future children, or other kids 10-20 years from now:

"When I was your age, Video Games..."

I will start with the first reply to get you started:

"When I was your age, Video Games had wires."

When I was a kid, Video Games came on a round disk, that was inside a square disk.

When I was a kid, you had to blow in video games to get them to work.

When I was a kid, video games had no multiplayer, no customization, no add-ons, no behind-the-scenes making-of DVDs; everything came in exactly two dimensions, there were no save states, and state-of-the-art spriting meant you got three, maybe four frames in an animation: and we damn well liked it!

In my day, I thought FMV games would be the wave the future... I'm still depressed that's not how that went. Sad

When I was a kid, if you wanted 3D graphics you had to bash your skull into the TV hard enough to get a concussion.

When I was a kid, a nuclear war and genetic virus killed 98% of all women, so we all organized into gangs and fought over women and scorched earth using tanks.

When I was a kid, you had to use these glasses to see in 3d, a little bit.

To play up on that one.

When I was a kid, Video Games had to be fun, because the graphics and sound weren't going to sell them.

When I was a kid, we would drag our parents into the living room to watch a 16 by 16 figure move on the screen, and that was awesome.

When I was your age, videogames would make it a point to try and kill you every way possible, game balance be damned, and no save anything to bail your ass out. Thus, nintendo players often got really good or were willing to be satisfyed with level 2.

In my day, video games didn't have plots! We just believed whatever the hell that little booklet told us was going on and half the time we just threw it out. Who has time to read!? Don't even get me started about endings... We were lucky to even get one and it was a screen that said congratulations!

When I was a kid, there were fewer than 40 "Final Fantasy" games, leaving the impression that one may truly be the final fantasy.
