I was watching The Cable Guy the other day, what a great movie. I remember when it came out, it got an awful reception. The critics and fans alike hated it, apparently disappointed that he didn't do the same old shitick he had done in Ace Ventura, The Mask, Batman Forever as well as on In Living Color.
Despite its unfavorable reception, The Cable Guy is actually pretty damn funny, fairly dark, and filled with great movie and TV references. It also represents an important milestone in Jim Carrey's career, namely the moment where he began to expand his acting horzinons and stopped playing the same character over and over again. Unlike once-popular comedians such as Eddie Murphy and Chevy Chase, Carrery has managed to stay relevant by diversifying himself.
