I played Ninja Gaiden for the nes lately and made it to the last stage. This stage. What can you say, it is really really close to impossible to beat that stage. I was wondering if anyone in this board did ever beat ninja gaiden regulary (without using savestates on the emulator or the gamegenie). Not Sure? Syd? Anyone?

Hell the first boss kills me half the time on Ninja Gaiden, I think I just don't care enough.

It's just not that good enough of a game for me to give a shit. It's just Ninja Gaiden, people.

I think its good. It got a very fast and precise gameplay. I also enjoy games that are hard to beat.

I had a hell of a time beating it with the infinite lives cheat on Game Genie. Infinite lives didn't really help too much because you restart from checkpoints.
The end boss is annoying, because he deals so much damage, but the bosses aren't the most punishing part of the game. After Level 1, the game's real difficulty comes from the unforgiving instant enemy respawns. The bosses have pretty easy patterns and most of them can be killed pretty quickly by dodging and spamming a special attack.

I think the respawing birds are the most hated enemys in game as far as i know. I fucking hate the jet pack ninjas. They just fly over the place and cover it in shurikens till you die.
The worst is the last boss. If you die, you respawn at the beginnig of Stage 6. You then have to make it through the hell of 6-1 to 6-5 where to boss awaits you again to kick your ass. I also think that the bosses aren't that hard but the last one has 3 forms and every form is challenging. So yeah, the last boss is an exception, because he is very hard.
To cool thing about this game is that it pushes you to become better at it. That plus the good gameplay and the cool, kinda anime related style and the story make it a real good game.
Well maybe Not Sure did manage to complete it without codes. I just need to know that i can be done to get myself to do it.

I just made this thread two weeks ago http://www.sydlexia.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=14895
However, I agree. The game is hard as hell, but it is a great game, and its one of my favorite nes-games. However, all the levels are beatable with practice, and the bosses are all quite easy except for the second form of the last boss which is a real bitch. This boss also sends you back to the beginning of level 6-1 if you loose, and does not refill your life when you get back. Basically, when I found out that last thing, I gave up, and beat it on an emulator instead. Sucks that I had to do it that way, but I did at least manage to get through the game in a way that any other normal game would have let me.
Great game though.

I've beaten it, yeah. The key is knowing what to do in 6-2 so it doesn't give you as much trouble. And of course, you should practice the final 2 boss forms a bit.

wow, you are awesome not sure. then i will keep trying, now that i know that it is possible.
yes the twin gargoyle (or whatever they are supposed to be) are easy because they can't hit you when you hide under one of the sockets then stand on on the beginnig.

All the bosses are pretty easy when you know what to do, but the statues/dogs/whatever are just a joke yeah. The exception is that second to last boss, which is a total bitch even when you know exactly what to do. If you fuck up once, those fireballs will start following you making it almost impossible to not get hit, and when you first get hit once, it is quite difficult to get back into the rhythm, meaning you will probably get hit once or twice more, which is probably enough to send you back to 6-1.

I hate this game, because I have a general rule that I whenever possible I won't play sequels in a series until I beat the games before them, so basically I will never get to play the other 2 games on the nes. I mean I only bought them and tried to play the first one last year, but the one time I really tried to beat it made it pretty clear to me that it was just beyond my capabilities.

You could always sell those sequels to me Actually I have the same rule myself, which is why I had to beat the first Ninja Gaiden before I started looking for the sequels. However, I am satisfied with my emulator-beating, and am now ready to move on to the second game.

Sure but can you do it with one hand, cause everyone knows it doesn't count if you use both hands.

Not Sure, I can't recall if it's been asked before, but did you beat it on an emulator?

Yes. I never managed to beat it on an actual NES back in the day, but I was a youngin'.

I was going to say, that's a hell of a task. I couldn't ever get very far on it, usually around 4 levels.
