This article came across my news feed this morning.

SCOTTDALE, Pennsylvania — A man left his sleeping 4-year-old son home alone while he went outside and pretended to be a ninja warrior, police say.
The Daily Courier of Connellsville reported that Ross Hurst was charged with endangering the welfare of a child after police found him dressed all in black and "playing ninja" on a borough street. Scottdale is about 35 miles southeast of Pittsburgh.
Police say Hurst, 28, told them his mother was watching the child, but the boy's grandmother said Hurst never asked her to babysit.
In an affidavit, Patrolman Joseph Lane said that he asked Hurst "why he was playing by himself" at around 1.30 a.m. on March 3.
"He replied that there are not a lot of people who want to play ninja," the newspaper quoted Lane's affidavit as saying. "I advised him that it looked to me that he was doing something else. Hurst stated that he was not doing anything wrong and was going home."
Hurst is due in court on March 30, according to the newspaper. |
I'm totally imagining this guy in one of those cheapy-looking ninja Halloween costumes waving a plastic sword.
"He replied that there are not a lot of people who want to play ninja" D'awwww, sad ninja warrior is sad and lonely.
"I adviced him that it looked to me that he was doing something else." Something else? What? What is this implying? Prostitution? Would you take some guy home who was dressed like a ninja?

There are a lot of people who like to play ninja, it's just that they're actually good at it so you don't even realize they are. This guy is no ninja. Bah.

If he was a real ninja, this wouldn't have ever been reported because no-one would have seen him.
Also, go ninja, go ninja, go. Why has no-one else made that comment yet.

Being a ninja isn't exactly a team sport. Perhaps he should join a softball league or something.

I feel like it's important to make the distinction between "ninja" and "ninja warrior".
This is a ninja warrior:
