It is a truth universally acknowledged that a video game in possession of licensed characters must suck.

However, there are exceptions to this rule. One of my personal favorites-- and a game I feel is one of the best ever produced for the NES-- is M. C. Kids. At first glance, it looks terrible-- a game in which you must retrieve Ronald McDonald's Magic Bag from the clutches of the Hamburglar-- but it's actually one of the best designed games in history.

The play is smooth without being too easy; the puzzles are clever without being too frustrating. I feel it actually is ahead of its time, with its "collect-the-cards" motif more in line with today's mission-based platformers than the clear-the-obstacle course platformers of yesteryear. In fact, the focus of the game is rarely on defeating enemies: the enemies are far too cute and cuddly. I personally can't bring myself to bump them off with a well-timed toss of a block.

What are some of your favorite licensed games?

EDIT: And why?

Rambo - First Blood Part 2 for the SMS, it was like Commando, but it was hard to beat.

EDIT: doesn't have unlimited ammo like he seemingly did in the movie

M.C Kids it's fucking amazing!!! The music is kinda addictive, the rainbowroad from MK64 should have that music playing... to play that, would be a real trip.

Also is the only game I can recall having black people in it, oh, and maniac mansion.

Go fuck a goat !!!

Never cared for it myself. Perhaps it was too hard, or perhaps the pogo-stick-jumping attack was too repetitive for me. Not trying to knock your choice, but I'd like to hear your passionate defense of the game, if only to see another point of view.

Exactly.

Space is a void.

Void is defined by the dictionary as: "an empty space; emptiness"

Which is nothingness, vis a vis, nowhere.

So, it is correct that they are coming out of nowhere.

I just want to be clear that I wasn't in any way attacking you or your taste, or saying that there was necessarily anything _wrong_ with the game-- I was just looking for some more detail as to why you feel this is a particularly strong game. And you provided it, which, as the Street Sharks would say, is pretty jawsome.
