We all knew that. I believe he was asking for proof of a fast food chain doing that which you did not provide.

I just gave an example of my own dad's business. Okay, so he wanted an example of a fast food franchise doing it, but I was generally stating that there's plenty of ways to make restaurant beef cheaper with filler and I wouldn't be surprised if other businesses did the same thing. I was mostly trying to refute his "Beef is cheaper than any filler they could reasonably use" statement.

I concede that I don't have actual evidence of a fast-food company using filler, but I still believe it's highly unlikely that a 99 cent taco can consist of grade A meat.

Methid, instead of trying to win this argument by claiming that companies do indeed use things like offal/viscera as fillers, you're shifting the subject to what they COULD use but don't as far as all presented evidence indicates. Unless you can provide a direct, irrefutable piece that proves companies DO use such fillers, DROP THIS like my interest.

Not to pile on, but your dad was making meatballs. Meatballs and meatloaf -do- require some sort of filler to make it stick together, and often do use different kinds of meat besides beef.

And your example kind of lends credence to the other side. Your dad did it, and he's out of business. That's a good reason for companies to -not- do it, isn't it? There's a reason I said reasonably use...sure, you could load it up with bread or sawdust, but that's not going to be very reasonable. And honestly, being able to say you have "100% beef" is worth more than the few cents you save by mixing in some bread crumbs.

Alright, I missed that part, and I agree it's not a very good idea.
