"BOSTON – The mother of a North Carolina teenager authorities think may have stowed away in the wheel well of a jetliner before falling to the ground in suburban Boston says her son was afraid of heights.
Jonette Washington tells The Boston Globe that 16-year-old Delvonte Tisdale had never flown in his life even though he was a member of the Air Force ROTC in high school. He didn't even like being in tall buildings.
Tisdale's severely damaged body was found in Milton on Nov. 15. Investigators say he may have stowed away in the wheel well of a plane at Charlotte, N.C. and fallen out when the plane lowered its landing gear on approach to Boston.
Washington, who lives in Baltimore, says something must have been building up inside him to prompt him to do something so drastic and out of character."
Did you hear any noises that sounded like a cartoon missile falling on Nov 15th, Syd?
I'm kidding, that's terrible. Poor kid. Let this be a lesson to any other 16 year olds who decide to stow away in a fucking airplanes wheel well.

You need a damn cavity search to be anywhere near an airplane nowadays.

It makes you wonder if a kid can find his way onto a plane like that, what would stop a terrorist?
The obvious solution: We put body TSA scanners in the wheel compartments.

We've come to the realization that the only portion of the public completely safe from terrorist attacks are the recently deceased. Studies show that 100% of the post living are unaffected by terrorism. In light of this recent discovery and in the interest of public safety we've announced that starting tomorrow, everyone will be humanely euthanized for their own protection. Thank you!

The first step is to figure out how the kid got in there.
My guess? Someone wasn't following the tarmac access procedures.

Hehe.
Seriously, from my airport working experience (and these were federal regs, so...), to be on the tarmac, you need a special badge that opens one of the doors. Anyone not wearing this badge is supposed to be stopped and challenged, and you're not supposed to let anyone not wearing the badge through a door, in fact, you're supposed to wait until the door closes before moving away from it.
You can guess how often this really happened.

I feel awful for that kid's family! That's more sad than that kid who walked infront of the path of the roller coaster! Can you imagine holding on to the arms/legs of the landing gear at 15,000? He must have been turned to mush instantly.

I just wonder when the EXACT moment he thought.
"Oh shit. This was probably not the best Idea. I really didn't think this through."
Probably about half way down the runway as they took off.
Bright side of it is, I doubt he was alive when he fell out.
Dark side of it is, he probably died from Freezing to death or lack of Oxygen.

Um, I think he was crushed by the wheel. There's like no space in there.

Oooo. That would be fucking TERRIFYING as it came up and you realized you were running out of space. Your already too high up in the air to bail out too. Dear lord, that would be horrible.

Yeah that's got to be a shitty way to go... can't bail out because the wheel is blocking your escape and crushing you, and if it wasn't you might fall far enough to die.. what altitude does the plane usually retract landing gear and how fast does it move? I remember reading somewhere that the rough math on a drop humans can take is pretty much 3 stories and then survivability drastically drops.

It wouldn't matter much since even at landing the plane is moving at 150mph. He would be frozen, crushed, hundreds or thousands of feet in the air, and moving at a minimum of 150mph. Dead, dead, dead.
