Intel is spending $7,680,000,000 to buy McAfee.

I'm not sure why, but it is happening.

See...

If you ask me, they are on crack, and a lot of it. Why not buy a smaller security firm... perhaps one that isn't known for making bulky shitty software and destroying their customer's machines with patches...

Since Apple has embedded Anti-virus "That doesn't exist... but exists" and Microsoft has Security Essentials, I doubt that this purchase was based on end user Anti-virus products.

I'm not sure how this was worth so much, but Intel is up to something nefarious.

No kidding, it's really weird that any company would drop that much money on something as horrible as McAfee. I'd rather stick razor wire up my peehole than use any of their software.

And, naturally, at least 30% will be spent on hookers and blow.

Is probably what I'd do with 30% of that much money.

With 30% of that money, I'd pay off all of my bills, fit myself with enough food to last a life time... Oh, and hire my own police force that would enforce the laws I set up for my house. ''Hey, no passing by this house without a sacrifice!''

Maybe they'll make the program better.

If they still produce it, I am sure it will be improved upon significantly. Intel is known for a lot of things, but shitty products isn't generally on their menu. I question if there is even a reason to produce a consumer based AV product though. They might be better off using Intel's name to go strictly corporate. Pair AV performance with some new processor instruction and wham, you have a new security app that has virtually no overhead. That I could see.

They should have bought Norton. Norton will protect your chicken from Dokken, and your caterpillar from Kimbo Slice.

Hah, those are great Syd.

Symantec isn't just a security company, so I am guessing that had something to do with it. Also, They are worth about 4 billion bucks more than McAfee and have about 3.5x more employees.
