It's funny you should mention owls, because the owl in OoT is a fucking asshole. I'd constantly scroll through his text as fast as possible because he would always tell me shit I already knew, however once he was done, he would ask you if you wanted to have that repeated. Yes or No? Now in most games, you already have your cursor on "no" but in this goddamn game, it's set on "yes", since I would be scrolling so goddamn fast, I would accidently hit yes and this asshole would repeat himself. If they wanted to fix anything, fix him.

Yes, yes, A THOUSAND TIMES yes. That owl is the only part of Ocarina of Time that I really absolutely hated. But seeing him is nostalgic, I can't help it. He's been so engraved in my brain that I would know what he was a hundred miles away... Still. Fuck you and your tricky text, Kapora Gabora.

I kind of like the owl... and Navi, too. I must be tolerant to annoying things. Or annoying myself, that I can't tell the difference.
Anyways, on the subject of the Control mission in GoldenEye, I read that "James, I..." line so many times that made me want to cry. I finally beat it tho, but I've never been too good playing shooters.

I know what you are talking about Dodd, accidentally clicking "yes", uggh. Fortunately though, he does not make too many appearances so it isn't too bad.

He does early on, and I hate his music. As I type this, I hear it go through my head. I remember playing this game one time with my friend, and I would burst out laughing every time I ran into the owl and scream "NOOOO!".

I would buy that game, as I am a Zelda fan, but only if they don't change it around like they did with Super Mario 64 DS.
Anyway, I didn't find Navi annoying at all. That owl on the other hand...

I didn't mind Navi for the most part, I can't remember specifics but I know there were parts where she was kind of grating on me though.
It was probably some of the "listen!"s that she would interject with.

You could ignore the "listens" though and Navi's hints were always short anyway. As someone else said, the Zelda Owl, with its unskippable lectures, was way more annoying.

Oh for sure, and I would, I just think it was the tone that she would say "listen" with.

I'm not sure how many people read the article, but all that it seemed to indicate was that they were going to use the touchscreen to allow you to swap gear so that you didn't need to pause every ten seconds to put on/remove the Iron Boots.
Sure it makes it less of a pain, but in the "we're removing time-consuming fiddly interface issues" way and not in the "we're altering the dungeon in such a way that it will be easier to complete" way.

Really? You guys didn't mind Navi? Ugh. Maybe it bugged me because I liked just sightseeing around Hyrule in OoT--riding Epona around and such--but her constant "LISTENS" every thirty seconds really broke that immersion. I can honestly say its one of the reasons I haven't played OoT very much despite the fact I really like it. If you're not on a quest, she won't leave you alone.

I also liked to sight-see in the game, and Navi seemed to rarely ever say "Listen". Odd.

I think anyone who brings up Navi is either exaggerating or just so poor at the game that they had to put up with her a lot. It was a novel idea at the time, but removing her would be only a very slight improvement (to use the term lightly).

that is dumb, why would they make it easier. It's a staple of zelda ever since misery mires to have the water temple stupid fucking hard. If they can't beat it go play Imagine Designer or something.

Totally on Navi's side of this argument. I was in emotional distress when I put in Majora's Mask for the first time and she wasn't there by my side. That little fairy and I went through so much shit together. I'll never forgive myself for letting Ganondorf blast her with dark magic like that. And then Nintendo goes and replaces her some new fairy spunky fairy with "attitude?" Sorry Tatl, I will only have one fairy, and her name is Navi.
Except why wouldn't she let me z-target those moblins in the sacred forest meadow? Fucking bitch.

Hard as in the level is designed to be challenging with it's level design and enemies, not as in having to pause the game to (un)equip and item every X seconds.

Yea that is the only real "change" to the gameplay that I have heard, this doesn't break the game with some new super easy difficulty.
It just makes it slightly more convenient, I am all for this addition, I don't understand why this thread got so wild, it will be the same game, just prettier.

And the Water Temple is hard to figure out, but exploring and figuring stuff out is a major part of the Zelda series.
There's no point in dumbing it down just because people suck at video games or are too lazy to try solving puzzles.
It's not like there's any way to make the game unwinnable, like in Link's Awakening or Twilight Princess. |
Actually there is a way to make OoT unwinnable. If you get rid of all the bombchu's in the game before you finish it (including the ones in ganons castle) then it becomes unwinnable
And why the hell dumb the water temple down? The feeling of triumph you get after kicking the bosses ass is worth all the pain and suffering and development of auqaphobia.
Don't fix what isn't broken

No one complained when they made a harder version of OoT. I don't see why making an easier version (not that that seems like what this is, but just for the sake of argument) would be any different.

Wrong. You can still always get them from the bombchu minigame or the magic carpet guy.
