I just noticed that if you get hit in the Japan version of SMB 3, you not only lose your power, but you shrink as well. Rough stuff.

Yeah, it's the same in the Mario All-Stars version too, I believe.

It really gets on my nerves when I have to pull off a "sacrife rush" or having bad luck with the Hammer Bros,.

EDIT: By the way Murdar, there's one level that's little bit longer than it is in the american version. You found it yet?

Not yet, but I will eventually. I'm playing the japanese one by myself and bomberman and I are working on the US one

Actually, at least in the US version of Super Mario All-Stars, you still remain "big" if you take a hit while Firey or Raccoon Mario, or when wearing a suit, just like the NES version. There is, however, a similarity to the Famicom version of SMB3 in Super Mario All-Stars (US): if you get hit when wearing a suit, a white outline of the suit's icon flies off you. This was not featured in the NES version of SMB3, but was always in the Famicom version.

I'd kinda like to see them release a Super Mario Brothers 3+ of sorts, that integrates all the stuff they either cut out or didn't have time to add-in:
