Zelda sucks, none of the games have ever appealed to me, even when they were new. |
Zelda sucks?, stop lying to yourself.
Also, why are people grouping Super Mario All-Stars and Super Mario World together?, is there some cartridge that combines them together that I don`t know about.

that is just your opinion....
I personally thought Super Mario 1 looked really good redone on the SNES. Super Mario 2 and 3 were just minor improvements, but still nice to have all three classic games plus the lost levels aka the real Mario 2.
also including Super Mario World to the mix, I would find anybody ignorant if they didnt want that particular cart in their collection for as many solid games you got on one cartridge.
The number 1 game most people would put in would be Super Mario World/Allstars after years of not playing their SNES. The other favs come later if your playing in private. I know this from experience from gamers and non gamers alike.
Mario is what we started on and it is what we will die on

Zelda sucks. Save for Twilight Princess, none of the games have ever appealed to me. |
I dont think Zelda sucks, but it is a game that fits into a certain demographic more than others. People who are into magic and roleplaying tend to hold Zelda in high regard and act like its an sin against nature not to include it in a top 5 list anywhere.
Zelda, Final Fantasy and even Mega Man are games that aren't universally loved by every gamer out there I hate to say..... Mario is the only one, the people who say he isn't are lying or are playing Devil's Advocate. People who love Mario also like Sonic, but that a more complicated issue.
I love Journey to Silius because I actually could pretend I was that character. Mega Man seemed too cartoonish and 5 year old Disneylike. Duck Tales is awesome music wise, but as an early teen, who wants to pretend they are Scrooge on some cane stick and not feel like a huge nerd if a girl walks in? I would never feel that way with Journey to Silius or Contra.
I loved Maniac Mansion over Final Fantasy because I felt like my mind had to work in a fun way over just reading endless amounts of dialogue and feeling like I was in school reading a fantasy book. Maniac Mansion was fun because you could come back later and usually figure out what you needed to do. Maniac Mansion was basically a silly version of a Are you Afraid story you could chose step by step.
Zelda is fun, but it gets annoying if you get stuck in the middle of the game and stop having fun(Zelda II is majorly guilty of this). That is why I prefer Dragon Fighter over it. A short low budget game, but you dont get stuck and its fun the whole way through. Zelda II has major parts that suck and are unfun. LOZ doesnt have this problem, but the graphics were too crappy for me in 1992 to give it a solid chance(I was a graphic whore during the 1990's)
Hell Dirty Harry looks like a damn fun game from the male standpoint except that besides the graphics it sucks major hard and was coded like shit. WWF Wrestlemania was the perfect games for a young boy except it was coded like shit too. Zelda,Mega Man and Final Fantasy are really fluid games that play well, that doesnt mean everyone will like their premise.
Im sure there are holes in my argument, but I am just telling you my logic as someone who wasnt into Zelda,MegaMan/Ducktales, or Final Fantasy

- The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
- Super Metroid
- Final Fantasy II (JP FFIV)
- Final Fantasy III (JP FFVI)
- Lufia & The Fortress of Doom
- Lufia II: Rise of the Sinistrals
- Chrono Trigger
- NHL '94
- Street Fighter II - Champion Edition
- Secret of Mana
I really think that this system was served best by RPGs and Action/Adventure. This is offset by the sole platformer that I enjoyed, Super Metroid. I think the only reason I like the game is because you can't fall off an endless pit, jumps are easily controlled, and you can collect more life to make the game more enjoyable for those who aren't the best at platformers.

Does anybody really need three Mega Man games? Granted, they're all great, but if you can only take 10 snes games with for the rest of your life, I think you'd be better served by a little more variety.

you could say the same for the RPG's since once you know the story and do all the side quests, theres not much else to do.
i would say most of these lists require a puzzle game, since those are never ever the same.

Hating on Zelda is the craziest thing I've ever heard. If you're too edgy and cool for Zelda, then your opinions are irrelevant to most people.

I disagree in regards to smb1's revamped graphics. I think it lost a lot of it's charm when they redrew the sprites, and the backgrounds of Mario giving the peace symbol in the underground were just stupid. Plus the new music blows, I prefer the 8 bit soundtrack in all it's beeping glory! I'll concede that smb2 and smb3 looked a lot prettier, but when it comes to smb1 I'll take the original over the reboot any day.

the sprite of Super Mario on the NES looks like shit, a mixture of brown and red that doesnt mesh well
at least with SMB Remake Mario looked correct in all his incarnations

No Joe And Mac II: Lost in the Tropics? That was my favorate Co-Op game growing up
Nosferatu was a great game, too. The graphics were near on-par with a Playstation game, and was a challenging, but fun, game. Also, the soundtrack was mega creepy
I also thought the SNES port of Street Fighter Alpha 2 was awesome as well.
Honorable Mention: Chrono Trigger: There aren't many games out there that I've re-played over ten times, and enjoyed every time
