Developers are just starting to be financially able to really make great games for the PS3.

I really feel like Sony is going to do some serious work with the PS3 over 2010 and into 2011.

I'm very curious to see. For all the PS3's "superiority," the thing has been out for 3 years and the graphics are still indiscernable from the Xbox360's.

This is a good thing, I think. The price is still too steep for me personally right now, but its MUCH more reasonable, and an amount I would actually pay for this product. That's progress, at least.

Will it have a game I want to play? Seriously. The ability to play Drake's Fortune does not seem worth $299.

Also, I just bought my first PS2 a week or two ago. For the same reason: a console needs to have games I want to play to warrant a purchase. Now I can play Kingdom Hearts.

I hear God of War is good.

You just bought a PS2 because it finally has games you want to play? What about the past 3 years when it still had the same games and price? And God of War is fantastic and I can't fucking wait for GoW3 and FFXIII.

I don't think your going to find any really clear cut superiority in graphics. Now amount of game on a disc, thats a much different story.

I hear this all the time too, you know one disc or 20, if it's a fun game i can live with switching.

Cause I'm sure a 6 disc game will be priced the same as it's 1 disc counter part. Razz

This is bloody fantastic. I mean, I've been waiting for a new system to drop in price for a while, and I've been on the fence as whether to get the 360 or pay the extra cash and get the blu-ray player with my PS3. This makes the choice obvious.

I think many people (me being one) have this mentality, it's gonna push me over the edge to get a PS3.

Pretty much! It makes the decision a lot easier for me as I was on the fence too. I'm too afraid of the RROD and Microsoft's crappy hardware to go with a 360 at this point, and a slim PS3 for $300 is just too good to pass up.

Also, maybe it's just my bad luck, but I've had two PS2s die on me after only a year each so I don't think they last very long at all so it will be awesome if the PS3 eventually gets BC.
Actually I do have a PS2 however I kind of like the idea of being able to create virtual data for my PS1 games. I don't really like the next gen that much however their are a few games I'd like to have.

my PS2 still works fine. even after years of owning it.

anyhow, a while ago i posted an article about how some programmers were able to make a program that was able to emulate the Emotion Engine. so im sure that a firmware update will be able to add that to the PS3 sometime in the future.

and yes, i was talking about God of War III.

PS2 has a bloody fantastic library, depending on what you want to try out. Lets see, you've got psychonauts, beyond good and evil, the fatal frame series, the silent hill series, the shadow hearts series, the very extensive and very excellent shin megami tensai series, odin sphere, okami, its got the street fighter anniversary collection, some people like the ratchet and clank series, killer 7, ico, shadow of the collosus, at least one of the final fantasies should pique your interest, the disgaea series, resident evil 4, god hand, viewtiful joe, rogue galaxy, god of war II, incredible hulk: ultimate destruction, theres probably one of the final fantasies that you will like, the xenogears series, not really PS2 games but you can get compilations of capcom and SNK games like KoF or megaman, dark cloud and dark cloud 2, arcana hearts, guilty gear, some people that arent me like metal gear solid and its ilk, I enjoyed the yakuza series, grim grimoire, steambot chronicles, some suikodens, its a bit of a niche but growlancer and the extensive dot hack games, a pretty good dragon quest, a bunch of RPGs I cant remember, the big names in 3d fighters of which I loathe, devil may cry, the GTA's, and a bunch of wrestling, sports and FPS's of which I never touch.

To be frank you've got options worth years. I personally didn't think I was going to move on in systems, but I'm a compulsive videogame player and I gotta have Brutal Legend and Blazblue.

Would there really be a significant price difference, though? The discs themselves are very cheap to make, aren't they? Due to the competition, I don't think Microsoft would allow their version of the same game to cost more, regardless of the # of discs.
