Are they guilty pleasures, or do you simply have so much pity on them that you can't help but enjoy them for whatever they're worth? Whether it's one of those ways or something else not listed here, we all have games that we can't help but love even when everyone else says we should go screw ourselves for liking them. I, myself, like Tecmo Secret of the Stars. I know that it got 92nd place on Syd's Top 100 SNES games, but everywhere else I seem to go... all I see are bad reviews! Maybe I'm just looking in the wrong places, but it seems everyone and their dogs hat this game. For me, though, the game has a special kind of charm I can't help but appreciate... So, what games do you people like that others can't stand?[/url]

Majora's Mask is my favorite Zelda game and not many people like it.

I like Final Fantasy IX much more than VII or VIII.

As bad as they are, I kinda like the Chester Cheetah games.

I have a good reason, though. My dad works for Frito-Lay.

Rampart on the NES. This game has given me more joy than any quasi-puzzle/strategy game can give.

When I try to show other people, they usually just roll the eyes and go on playing crap like Ghostbusters NES.

I grew up playing both of those on the good ol' Genesis, I loved both of them.

Believe it or not, Yo! Noid is pretty big amongst old-school players here in Brazil. And I kinda found some fun in it.
I also like Legend of Dragoon for the PSX, though it's not that great for an RPG.

Absolutely, both of these are fucking classic.

Cool Spot played alot like Vectorman in the sense of shooting freedom and light exploration. Don't get me wrong, I love Vectorman, but that game is much more popular IMO.

One of the greatest games ever. I absolutely LOVE that game. I loved the bastard tanks in Times Square slightly less. I also got a kick out of the stuff on the News Ticker on the Soviet News Network.

I grew up with that one too...played it many a time. I don't necessarily remember it, but I know I played it.

I've always been a huge fan of the Conflict series. Every review I've read on many of the games (Vietnam in particular) has been scathing. However, I've played all the Conflicts (with the exception of Denied Ops, because a big turnoff was not controlling 4 characters and not bringing Bradley, Connors, Jones, or Sherman/Foley back), and I have liked each newer one more than the last (culminating in Global Terror), which is a rarity for me. I have fond memories of each game, and playing it on XBox with my custom soundtrack made it all the better for me.

To this day, I kick around the idea of seeing if I can buy the XBox from my brother so I can re-play those games.

Also, Arena Football was a hidden classic I discovered...I really liked being able to create teams and start an alternate AFL timeline with my created teams.

...which ones? the Attitude-era ones, or WM2000/No Mercy?

If it's the latter, those games were critically acclaimed, no?

I'm under the impression that I'm the only guy who likes StarFox Command at this point.

And the Bust A Groove games (the japanese ones).

And some others that I can't recall right now but once I remember I'll post them here.

When I was a kid, I just played whatever games my mom bought me, when she could afford it. Sometimes I lucked out and ended up with a Zelda or Final Fantasy, and other times I wasn't so lucky. But I loved every game I had, and to this day even the terrible ones make me smile. Some of the worst offenders that I love to death even while freely acknowledging how much they suck:

The Karate Kid
City Connection
Quatro Adventure
TMNT 1

The Robin Hood game isn't too bad, and the Dizzy game would be fun were it not for the fact that you die in one hit and have no lives or continues. Was that game simply not finished or something? Confused

I liked it as well. Of all the Final Fantasy games that utilize the ATB method of battling, I think this one did it the best.

Seconded.

For me, Friday the 13th on NES. Sure, I find Jason impossible to beat on the 3rd day, but I've always had fun with it.

...Some games that immediately come to mind are:

Grand Theft Auto IV

Home Alone (SNES, Game Boy, and Genesis [Yeah, that one] versions only)

Mortal Kombat 4 & Gold

The first Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game on NES.

Art of Fighting 1 & 2

Hook

Renegade (Well, the first 3 stages, anyway)

Rampage

Wario Land; Super Mario Land 3 (It's not that people don't like it, it's more like people have forgotten all about it)...

Was I supposed to put something here?

SaGa Frontier 2. I haven't played the later games, but I know everyone was ragging on it when it was around.
