I have come up with a terrible idea. It might be the worst idea ever.

I am calling it "Unplay" and it is a type of competition for video games. The challenge is how fast can one fail at a video game?

I encourage you all to attempt to Unplay video games. Why? Because perhaps this is a competition I can do well in. Maybe Not Sure won't kick the shit out of me at losing!

The rules:
* No cheats/turbo/emulator tweaks/hacks.
* The Unplay starts with a soft-reset.
* The Unplay ends when gameplay cannot continue
* For games with multiple lives, the object is to lose a single life.
* Any game on any console can be played. (Includes PC/Mac)

Examples:

Game 1: Super Mario Bros. 3

Game 2: Final Fantasy (Unplay Version 2)

I did this one real quick, though it seems pretty similar to my other Kid Icarus video...

...So, in other words, you're going to play games like the Irate Gamer does...?

The sad, yet funny, thing about that is that, even if you 'fail,' you'll still be doing a better job at the games than he ever could...

Was I supposed to put something here?

That is truly a bizarre idea. I might try it sometime.

Does this also apply to 16-bit games?

I'd just like to say that if people are gonna do this, try and do something that's not obvious...or at least slightly interesting.

I know we can all run right into a Goomba in SMB and shit. But show me someone getting the shit beaten out of them by a Slime, and I'll be happy.

I hope so because at the 16 bit era, the expert difficulty became a mainstay

All games, any console.

This includes PC & Non Emulated Consoles (get a video camera, you know you have one on your cell phone).

Unplaying a game is for everyone.

NOTE: Do NOT Unplay your life or Syd Lexia would be held responsible.

I tried to think of a game where this might be a little interesting, but to no avail.

That's good to hear. I might have to try that on Stunt Race FX.

Only a robot would fail so badly at failure.

My work should be done here, but as a human, I continue to fail at these games, so I guess I'm not 100% finished.

As funny as that was, GP, I kind of liked what Slayer did the the UP concept better--actually trying to win at a game he had no idea how to play. To me, that's more interesting than simply trying to die as fast as possible. There's no real drama or conflict in that (although it can be pretty funny--your SBM3 one game me a laugh.)

Go to the flyswatter game and purposely get hit by the bugs until you lose all your lives.

I think I'll put a nail in this idea's coffin.
