I couldn't disagree more. I've loved every one of the sequels so far (except maybe V as I mentioned before, it's not quite as complex and interesting as the last 4), and of course as with all sequels, there is some dropoff, but it's really not that much. All 5 have been compelling and were entertaining movies to me and have a lot less drop off than most movie series that have had as many sequels. I'd recommend watching I-IV at the very least.

I think shouting that the movies suck hard and calling the plots cheap mindfucks like M. Night's "twists", is doing a disservice to people who are interested in seeing the Saw films which don't deserve that attitude in my opinion. They are well made, well directed and written, and genuinely fun movies.

I think it's a series of movies everyone should watch because they achieve what movies are supposed to do; to entertain and make you think when it's over.

YES! How could I have forgotten that one? It's one of my favorites and I've read the novel. It's a great adaptation that wisely left out all the boring, long winded pointless junk from the book, but kept all the good stuff and was directed brilliantly.

That reminds me of another underrated movie that's one of my favorites, The 13th Warrior with Antonio Banderas. It's just such a pure, fun as hell movie.
