I do remember my grandmother renting a TG-16 from a video store one time, and I do remember it having two controllers and two slots.
But to be perfectly honest, I'll take your word over my very hazy memory.
But remember, there is a big difference between a game that -requires- a special adapter (like Guitar Hero) and one that is enhanced by one (like these Multitap games). You can still play every one of those games by yourself.
I'm not sure people are getting my point. Releasing a game that requires an optional component to play it is not a good idea. Businesses are very reluctant to do this because you're limiting your market. It's what makes sense. Unless they can somehow mitigate this factor (with controller pack-ins or the like), it's not worth doing. And if you think that feeling is stupid, history has shown thus far otherwise.
