"Looks like somebody's been using 'Brand X'-sssssssssssssss."

Nicholson rules and he gave the Joker something that Heath Ledger will never be able to give him...Moobs.

One last thing, we're just lucky that Tim Burton had not yet met Helena Bonham Carter before he tackled Batman; otherwise, she'd have played Vicky Vale, Alfred and Harvey Dent.

Not taking anything away from Michele Pfeiffer (she was a very hot catwoman), but Helena Bonham Carter would have been pretty awesome in the role too.

I still love BB. In fact, I still like it more than DK. The movie is perfect in my view, plus it has great sociological and political statements in it about crime, which make it very quotable. The way they make the decision to become Batman as realistic and logical is phenomenal. I enjoy that buildup to Wayne putting on the suit late in the movie.

The plot is not hard to understand. What I find annoying having watched the movie many times now, is that near the end, they have a bunch of people spouting exposition in order to explain what's happening with the train and the device. Batman spouts it to Gordon, and the Water Dept guy or whatever says it two or three times. "If the train makes it to Wayne Tower, the whole city is fucked!"

Batman Begins is excellent, but The Dark Knight has to be the best superhero movie of all time, so it overshadows how excellent Batman Begins is. The only thing I found lacking in Batman Begins is that they explain his physical training, but none of his forensics training or any of the stuff resulting in him being one of the world's greatest detectives.

In BB, Ra's was clearly evil, fairly boring, and apparently not immortal. Then again, I guess we'll see about the latter.

Ra's IS clearly evil though. Also, when he was talking about how they destroyed civilizations before, he was clearly talking from a very first person aspect, not an ambiguous "this organization" sorta thing.

Oh, and he probably wanted Bruce to marry Talia because Bruce is her baby daddy so they're living in sin.

I don't think they had sex on TAS.

My only problem with Batman is Keaton seriously my 60 year old dad could take this guy in a fight and when I was little the only thing I associated him with was Mister Mom...

Haha, that was my main problem with 1989's Batman, too. Keaton simply was not the right choice for Batman. I love Jack Nicholson as the Joker, though. I love The Dark Knight and Batman Begins. Christian Bale, in my opinion, played both Batman and Bruce Wayne flawlessly. It's pretty damned tough to find any flaw in the of the other actors, and obviously Ledger's Joker was simply amazing. Better than Nicholson, but the Joker was played completely different by both men, so admittedly it is kind of tough to say,
As for the other movies, I also love watching the 1966 Batman just for it's hilarious campiness. I really want to see Batman Returns, and I'd like to see Batman Forever, too. I think it goes without saying that Batman and Robin sucked. That one tried to pull off the hilarious campiness, but failed miserably.

I like the Tim Burton Batman movies better than the new ones. I think Batman works better when it is not too dark.

I was looking through Wikipedia, and it said Mel Gibson, Kevin Costner, Charlie Sheen, Pierce Brosnan, Tom Selleck and Bill Murray were all choices to play Batman.

When you look at Batman 89 after watching something like TDK, you still love it, but it's like the difference between Batman:TAS and the old, goofy, campy 60s Batman. Still likeable, but something feels...off.

Meanwhile, my only beef with TDK is Batman's need to growl while talking. It's OK when he's taunting someone, but when he's got a paragraph-long exposition with Harvey Dent and Jim Gordon at the end? You could hear Bale struggling for breath between every two/three words.

Not only is that not right, that's not even wrong. It's a meaningless statement. Saying something is "one molecule away" from plastic is like saying a farm is one letter away from a fart. Water is "one molecule away" from being explosive hydrogen gas.

Am I the only one who wasn't bothered by the growling? Maybe it's all the death metal I listen to that's got me accustomed to it. While I didn't care for BatKeaton that much, I will say that he had the right way of deepening his voice just enough to be unrecognizable, but not to be too growly for most people, and even though I'll admit that while I wasn't bothered by the growling, I would have preferred simply a lower voice. Then again, Christian Bale has a moderately low voice, so maybe it wouldn't have seemed like a good enough disguise.
I'd also like to throw out the fact that my parents hated the Dark Knight, proving that they are very much squares.
Figure I may as well post this article:

I'm all for Bruce Wayne disguising his voice, but did he have to be Nathan Explosion?

I love Cracked.com, shame they don't have the mag anymore, I actually kinda dug it more than MAD.

Haha, I can just see Batman holding up the Joker, then growling "Have you ever danced with the Devil in the pale moonlight?" Then he throws him to the ground and jumps onstage to perform the most brutal death metal in Gotham while a pack of bats cartoonishly mauls Joker. Then there would be some Gotham pun on Gothenburg.
It would be most metal.

The best part of all would probably be Ra's Al Ghul heading the council trying to take down a three-member Dethklok, with Robin Murderface and Batgirl Pickles.

QFT all the way. I enjoyed Keaton as Batman, more because I like him as an actor than because I thought he was good for the role though. Christian Bale imho will go down as THE definitive screen Batman. He's just too damn perfect.

I too love the 60s Batman. It doesn't take itself seriously, which is why its so much fun to watch. (Best line ever: "some days you JUST CAN'T GET RID OF A BOMB!") I think the problem with Batman and Robin (well okay, other than the casting of Clooney) was that it was trying to capture the 60s sort of campiness and humor...while also trying to be a serious superhero movie. Big no-no. As Stephen Colbert would say, we're at war. Pick a side.

At 3:30 last night, halfway through Batman Returns I realized that Michelle Pfieffer is to blame for practically every nerdy dude's leather fetish.

So I was browsing some news website yesterday when I noticed that Joe Biden looks eerily like Nicholson's Joker. So I took some screen shots and whipped this up:

Had to throw in Cheney as the Penguin, even if that's been said a billion times. Rehrehreh.
Or am I just imagining things?

No no no, you've got it all wrong. If Cheney is to be compared to Penguin (and he clearly is), then he is far, far more Burgess Meredith than Danny Divito:

Ah, I love Burgess Meredith's Penguin. I suppose one good meme deserves another, so I took a DVD screenshot and made this:

Lmao I love it! Meredith's Penguin was so completely my favorite villian from the series (along with Riddler). I'm stealing that for a wallpaper if you don't mind.

I don't have l33t photoshop skills, but I did find this:

Photobucket

Clearly we aren't the only ones to see the resemblance Wink .

I figure it's time to make more fun of the Democrats, too. Found this online and resized it so there aren't too many gigantic pictures in this thread. Hope we're not getting the thread too off-topic:

(Funny thing is, Nicholson endorsed Clinton back in the primaries.)
Continuing the Batman moviefilm discussion, I really, really, really don't want Robin to be in the next movie. The character just always bugged me (well, maybe not in Teen Titans.) Maybe if we can get an actor who won't turn him into an embarrassment, then I'll be satisfied. Of course, I'm pretty sure (but too lazy to look it up) that it's been officially said that the Nolan movies won't have Robin because Bruce Wayne is still young.

See, I think the Hilary comparison is far more apt. She's...had work done I'm sure, just like Joker. Biden looks too much like a grandpa for it to work imho. His face doesn't have that weird plastic look. Hers does lol.

Here's another one found, inevitable now that I think of it. (And I'm not actually trying to be partisan here, I swear. I actually like Condie okay.)

Photobucket

Ahem and yes, back to topic. I don't think that Christian Bale's Batman would lend himself to a Robin. Too brooding and solitary. Dunno, maybe if they handle it right. And cast the right person like you said, although I have no clue at this point who that would be.

I think I like Keaton better the Bale as Batman. I say this because no growl as Batman, and, he was dark and brooding. Never happy, always aloof, whereas Bale plays up the well the rich playboy aspect of things too much. He can't help it, he's that kinda guy I guess.
