I noticed the video game forum wasn' t getting much love lately, so I pose a quick question: If you had an idea for a new video game (or a remake of an old one) what would it be?

I've always had the idea that it would be cool to remake Legend of Zelda 1, 2, and 3 into a 3D type of game, maybe even in a first-person type of view. Only problem with that is I couldn't take the game too seriously because of Zelda's roots in the birds-eye view (Adventure of Link, the exception of course).

I also always thought it would be cool if a Legend of Zelda movie came out... but if it was done poorly, it could suck major balls. Just a passing thought. Don't put too much stock in it.

Thou, because I am wroth, be not dismayed, for I shall win the strife, whoever circle round within for the defence. This their insolence is not new, for of old they used it at a less secret gate, which still is found without a bolt. Above it thou didst see the dead inscription; and already on this side of it
descends the steep, passing without escort through the circles,
One such that by him the city shall be opened to us.

Shit..

If we're remaking games, I would remake Metal Gear, Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, and Metal Gear: Snake's Revenge with Twin Snakes graphics and gameplay. All the original voices would return as their earlier selves. If I was God, I would have all three released together.

I know, Snake's Revenge isn't canon, but neither is Ghost Babel or Ac!d. Bring on my remakes Konami!

As a kid, I used to design 2D platformers when I was bored. I would draw out maps of levels and bosses and such. I don't really remember any of them, except for one I came up with in 3rd grade. In it, you played as my cat who was on a quest to defeat an evil neighborhood bully named Jared Donaldson and rescue me. The plot involved Jared using some mind control machine to turn my closest friends evil, so they were the first four bosses. The game all took place at various locations around my town. It was pretty derivative and the level designs were all pretty pedestrian, but I'd still kind of like to make it.

I have a couple of ideas for flash games that I'd like to have on the site, but unfortunately I'm not a programmer, I don't know any programmers, and I don't currently have the funds to hire a programmer. But at some point in the next couple years, I hope to host some pretty funny (and very tasteless) games here.

I don't know about remakes persay, but I'd love to see a new Earthbound, a new Kid Icarus, or a new River City Ransom.

Ok... I'm not suggesting that we actually make this game, it's just that you've reminded me of something... when I was little (maybe 10 or so) me and my best friend used to dream of making a game called 'HouseBreakers' where the point was just to go around and break all the furniture and stuff in people's houses. 1 or 2 player, of course. Very Happy

Kinda like a more realistic version of Rampage: World Tour

I said this before, but a game based purely around sniping civilians would be controversial as hell, but would sell like crazy. I don't think It'd be that hard for a big name company to factor wind and weather into the game, choosing a suitable location, having to clean up after yourself, reading police reports about yourself and avoiding capture. Maybe I'm just a sick motherfucker. Maybe I should head a video game company. Who knows.

Law & Order: Rogue Cop

Falsify reports, switch out shell casings, use ice bullets to leave no trace, kill an informant who's threatening to go to your Captain with proof of your illicit activities...

Syd, you do know a programmer, I've just never done anything in flash. And if you could come up with a game that didn't assault EVERY thread of common decency left in my body, then maybe I'd be apt to try it out.

Syd, my new mission (and I'm not kidding) is to learn Flash and start making tasteless games with you. I think the ideas of the civilian sniping game and the L&O: Rogue Cop are fantastic and I would love to learn Flash just to make those. I'll find a couple of books and get to work.

ideas for games eh?

well, video game development is my ultimate carear when i get out of school, next to musician. i pretty much just sit around and play games and write music all day so i have alot of time to think about video game ideas.

as for remakes,i would defnitly remake contra 3,still as a side scroller but with 3d elements and the ocasional back-facing level for variety.

I am a worthless piece of crap.

A re-make of Lemmings. Pay GamePro to give a fantastic report and use graphics so advanced that Alienwares explode. Then release it for $55 and tell everyone that says it sucks they just need to wait for a patch.
