They could get Toonces out of retirement to be the big name draw of the cast.

I read online somewhere that the Ferris Bueller thing is for a commercial during the Super Bowl for Honda.
EDIT: Here is the full ad that will not air in its entirety during the Super Bowl

The long-awaited 300 prequel is finally on its way, and today we have more good news: We have a Xerxes! And his name is Sullivan Stapleton, THR reports. So who is this guy?
Joel Edgerton was previously attached to the project, but this other Aussie has now stepped in. Sullivan was in fact Edgerton's unstable partner in crime in Animal Kingdom. (If you still haven't seen this film, go watch it, it's brilliant!) And this year he will also appear in The Gangster Squad, alongside Sean Penn, Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone. Take a look at the photo below: he doesn't look like a king yet, but we see some potential there!
We can't wait to see him as Xerxes, the king-turned-god. Let's just hope he dials the weirdness down a notch, since he will be in really good company. Eva Green is in talks to play Artemisia, 'a ruthless, covered in gold goddess' who talks Xerxes into raising an army and starting a war. Brace yourself Sullivan, you may play the king, but you will be in the presence of a true goddess!
And if seeing Eva covered in gold is not reason enough to get excited for the movie... who are we kidding? Of course she's reason enough!
im sure no one here cares. obviously, they make a crapload of money, so gotta keep making them. sigh

I Am Legend 2. With a lot of rumors saying Will Smith will return. But didn't he die in the theatrical ending? Either way, this movie doesn't deserve a sequel.

Child's Play remake - has Brad Douriff, slated for 2014 release
Dredd - Karl Urban, slated for 2012
House Party - Brett Ratner directing, tentatively scheduled for 2013
Oldboy- Mia Wasikowska, Josh Brolin, directed by Spike Lee (no bullshit)
Robocop- Jose Padhila directing, actors unknown, apparently getting a big push to get finished
Battle Royale - I'm sure this one'll be ruined. Wait, they already remade it. It's called the Hunger Games.
There's more, sadly. Just don't know 'em yet.

I know of a few movies that are supposed to be remade/rebooted, although I do not know when they will be released.
Dune
Mortal Kombat
Short Circuit
Scarface
The Crow
Highlander
Cleopatra
Child's Play
I am sure if you do a google search you can find even more titles.

Really? Dune? How are you going to replace the awesomeness that was Sting going "I will kill him!!!" in leather underoos? Unless David Lynch directs this one (and does it more like Eraserhead or Twin Peaks) I'm done.

I wish they had made it ten years earlier than 1984. Salvador Dali and Orson Welles were supposed to be in a 10 hour version of it. That would have been very interesting to see.

This is my least favorite thread. That being said, they have to one-up the three-tittied alien in order for me to watch it.

They should have a woman with three vaginas. That would be awesome.

Can Kate Bekinsale and Bryan Cranston make you give a crap about Colin Farrell? Find out summer 2012.
Arnold Schwarzenegger movies should never be remade, in fact they should be on constant rotation at the smithsonian.

Is the world ready for a sequel to Twins?
Universal and Montecito Picture Co. are hoping to develop a doozy of a follow-up to the 1988 hit comedy that starred Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito that would reunite the two stars.
But wait, there’s a twist: In the new scenario, Eddie Murphy would act as a third brother.
i love the original Twins. not sure how i feel about this

Instead of making the third sibling another man, they should make it a woman. I am thinking Betty White would be perfect as Danny DeVito and Arnold Schwarzenegger's sister.

I am. I'm expecting to find this one of the remakes that actually kicks ass. I'm sure it will toy with concepts about Mars the first one couldn't and I like that. Looking forward to it.
Speaking of kicking ass... Guess who's playing Carrie:
get your ass to mars

I guess my problem with the Carrie remake is that, despite being fifteen, she's much better looking already than Sissy Spacek. I'm sure they can give her a Charlize Theron transformation (a la Monster), but still, Sissy Spacek was just not very attractive to begin with. If it runs in the same vein as every other Stephen King movie adaptation, it's still going to blow regardless. To me, the only actual good one was Pet Sematary.

For a while, it seemed like the chances for a sequel to the 1994 hit comedy "Dumb & Dumber" was one out of a hundred, or even one out of a million. But it turned out there was a chance. And at a junket for "The Three Stooges," the original film's co-director Peter Farrelly said that not only is a sequel set to go into production this September, but original stars Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels will reprise their roles as Lloyd Christmas and Harry Dunne.
According to ComingSoon.net, who broke the story, Farrelly was clear about the reality of the sequel. "We're getting set to shoot 'Dumb & Dumber 2' in September," he told the website. "It's the first sequel we've ever done and we've got Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels back."

Last April came the out-of-nowhere casting calls, but now you'll have to come to terms with the fact that Raging Bull II — a prequel and sequel to the Martin Scorsese film, with William Forsythe in the role made famous by Robert De Niro — has actually begun filming. Variety reports: "[Forsythe] stars as boxing champ Jake LaMotta in his older years with newcomer Mojean Aria playing the younger version of the character made famous by Robert De Niro in Martin Scorsese's 1980 classic Raging Bull." William Forsythe as Jake LaMotta. Yep. It's happening.
yeah. not sure who wanted this done, but i feel its totally unnecessary.

Raising this thread from the grave to update on Dumb and Dumber 2.
Quote:
Jeff Daniels has promised that the Farrelly Brothers have "topped" the original Dumb And Dumber with their script for the forthcoming sequel, which is officially titled Dumb And Dumber To.
Asked to reveal the best and scariest things about working on the sequel,Daniels replied: "The scariest thing? There are some things that's we're going to do in Dumb and Dumber To that make the toilet scene [in the original] seem lame. Pales in comparison and I can't divulge what, but just that they've topped it."
Daniels and Carrey will be joined in Dumb And Dumber To by Kathleen Turner,The Walking Dead actress Laurie Holden and Brady Bluhm, who appeared in the original as Billy in 4C,the blind boy to whom Harry and Lloyd sold their headless bird,Petey. Meanwhile, Empire Of The Sun have been hired to write the music for the eagerly-anticipated sequel, which is set for release in 2014 to mark the 20th anniversary of the original film.
