I've started working out again and I need some awesome 80s riffs to work out with. This would be songs like "Hearts of Fire", "The Final Countdown", "Restless Heart", and "Separate Ways". Songs that are just awesomely bad and are soaked in that 80s feel.

Awesome! I'll try and think of some more, but for now I can defnitely say I like to work out to some of the Top Gun soundtrack (but, I'm in the military, so that may not be your thing).

Well, obviously "Eye Of The Tiger" needs to make the cut. Hell, you could just fill your playlist with songs from Rocky movies like "No Easy Way Out" and "Burning Heart". And yes, "Burning Heart" is a different song than "Hearts On Fire".
Some other potentially good ones:
Queen - Princes of the Universe
Rush - Red Sector A
Depeche Mode - Personal Jesus
Huey Lewis & The News - I Want A New Drug
Michael Jackson - Beat It
Loverboy - Workin' For The Weekend
Bruce Springsteen - Born In The USA
W.A.S.P. - Animal (Fuck Like A Beast)
Van Halen - Right Now

Nobody mentioned Goonies R Good enough by Cyndi Lauper...that's a workout song in the movie Goonies. Of course the song is awful, but it needs to be mentioned.

I can't fucking believe no one mentioned this yet: "You're the Best" from the Karate Kid soundtrack. Dunno who did it.
Also, I dunno if it's 80's or not, but Phil Collins - In the Air Tonight is a good one. Hey, they can't all be fast songs; gotta pace yourself.

Easily the dumbest thing I've heard all day, and I'm at WORK.
Pacing yourself doesn't entail putting yourself into a Phil Collins-induced coma.

Look, Spanky, the Miami Hurricanes worked out to the song on the field before every football game and where did it get them? Three years with only two losses, one of which was only lost because of a call so bad that the ref was fired the next day.

That still doesn't make it a good work out song.

Geez, then I guess the next time I'm in the mood to play collegiate football I should just listen to Phil Collins. The fact that Miami had athletic and agile players didn't factor into the equation at all. And all those Miami players did so well in the NFL.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions! I'm in the process of hunting down my friends' CDs. Except for the "Karate Kid" soundtrack, I think I have access to try them out.

I can probably hook you up with the song from Karate Kid, if you want it.

The last time I worked out...
(moment of silence)
I listened to mostly prog. Good workout prog for me was:
Tom Sawyer - Rush
The Knife - Genesis
Dance of Eternity - Dream Theater
Black Diamond - Stradivarius
Watcher of the Skies - Genesis
Red - King Crimson
and others, but I would listen to weird things while working out. I also listened to video game music when working out, but I don't think I'll offer my counsul there, since most video game music, depending upon arrangement, isn't your typical, run-of-the-mill workout music.

Yeah, another weirdo thing that gets me going to work out to is the soundtrack to the original Command & Conquer.

Great call!
I always underestimate the power of Dio.

Besides most workout videos. Well almost any Anime made during the 1980-2000 had great music especially animation in the late 1989 and early 1997.
Dominion Tank Poilice
Genocyber
Project A-ko
Gal Force
Bubble Gum Crisis 2033
M.D. Geist
I.R.I.A. Zeriam
Capcom war and fighting arcade games featured some nice music.
Also I just remembered PAc-Man fever and Space Invaders.

Now you can download and listen to "You're The Best Around" any time you want. Such a great pump up song, I love it. I also would reccomend "Kickstart My Heart" by Motley Crue as a great work out song.

Pretending you are in fear of your life. Now THAT'S a good workout!
