#19: Metal Gear

Released In: 1987
Developer: Konami
Publisher: Ultra

This Konami port of their classic MSX2 computer game sold over one million copies in North America and paved the way for future Metal Gear games with its success. Ironically, the NES version doesn't actually feature the titular mecha. Instead, FOXHOUND operative Solid Snake must fight his way through the military state of Outer Heaven and destroy the super computer that controls the enemy's new Metal Gear super weapon.

Syd Lexia: The world's introduction to Solid Snake, need I say more?

Rycona: I cracked most of the password system for this when I was 8. The only thing I didn't track was the events. A great game, though I still haven't beaten it.

greeneyedzeke: “I feel asleep!”

This is perhaps the only stealth game I am capable of playing. The fact that it isn’t overstuffed with 80 hours of movies helps.
