so I've been playing Star Trek Online for about the past week. I got to start the game early since I pre-ordered it. I didn't order in time to get into the beta however. Anyway I'm enjoying it. A lot of the missions are a bit repetitive so far. Like "Go to this sector of space and kill this many enemy patrols." But the same could be said about World of Warcraft.
One thing I really like is that you can take and turn in missions without having to go back to see the person who gave you the mission. You have a Commbadge icon you can click and then you click the name of the person who sent you on the mission and can turn it in without ever having to go back to whatever starbase they are on. You can of course go to then to do this if you want though.
I also like that you can buy and sell items without having to track down a vendor. There is a replicator option that lets you buy/sell items wherever you are. This makes it nice because you don't have to track down a vendor and when your inventory is full you can sell things right away.
I got the collector's edition and it is a decent package. You get a nice Commbadge pin, an art book, some guest pass cards for your friends, and some nice in-game items. My favorite being the TNG era uniforms that are exclusive to the collector's edition. The ones they give you with the regular when you enter your pre-order code look nice and all but the TNG era ones are my favorite by far.
Also they make getting the collector's edition items very easy. I got a pre-order code in the mail, this gave me access to the head start which lets you download the game and play until you get your retail copy. You then enter your code for the retail copy and you're good to do. With the collector's edition the code unlocks the extra items in the game for you.
Overall I'm enjoying this game so far. I still play World of Warcraft but this is a nice diversion for now. I'm playing as the engineering class by the way.
