I've found the Leaf Shield is good for when you're low on health; stand someplace where enemies respawn (perfect place is in Air Man's stage, where robot birds drop eggs on the ground) and energy canisters eventually start showing up when the shield kills enemies.

The omega badge in FFV. What the fuck? I was hoping for some crazy awesome weapon or something. Or at least be able to summon Omega and use 'encircle' on anything that pissed me off.

The Leviathan in GTA San Andreas
Hey, it's a helicopter that allows you to pick up cars with a crane attached to the bottom.
Except after you do the mission where you steal a truck using one, the crane disappears, leaving you with a slow sluggish helicopter sitting at your plane yard. Also, if you get all gold medals in Flight School, you unlock the Hunter (which IS a cool helicopter), however the game only decides to spawn one or the other when you show up, and usually the Leviathon wins out.

The Omega badge is one of TWO useless items you get in FFV. If you beat both Shinyruu and Omega and took a picture of your inventory screen with both their items in it, you got your name published in Famitsu or Japanese Nintendo Power or some big Japanese magazine back in the day.

Dan Hibiki isn't useless, except in Super Puzzle Fighter, where his drop pattern borders on unplayable.
I seem to recall the Sylph Summon in FF4 being completely useless by the time you get it. The super duper secret summons were definitely all useless. |
So were the Mage Summon and Bomb Summon. It was unbelievably time consuming for the pay off you got for them. Fucking Dumb Summons.

What was the deal with the 1/35 soldier items in FFVII? It told you to collect 12 of them for the set but there were only like 2 in the game.

That and all the items you won from the Gold Saucer's Rollercoaster Shooter? Those items did nothing.

Sure, once you figured out how to beat him. But until then it's fucking impossible. I must have died a hundred times until I figured out a way to beat him.

I disagree with the cigs from the metal gear series. Not only do they allow you to see lasers and the direction of the wind, they have that rich, smooth, lucky strike flavor that improves morale due to the fine tobacco used in their manufacture. Smoke Snake, smoke.

It also provides a subplot point in the fourth game and it also helps reduce stress when stressed out in 4. Also, they calm the aiming and gives Snake a bad ass look... to bad he shoved them in his stomach. My only question is: how did he get them out?

The wood polish in Monkey Island 2. I rubbed that dude's stump so many times...hacking it off with the saw was so cathartic. I WILL NOT BE A VICTIM!

I googled this to try and come up with a sarcastic response and didn't find anything. Maybe Snake doesn't want the wind to blow the smoke back in his face...I don't fucking know

It had some effect in Metal Gear Solid 4, but I can't remember right now. It wasn't particularly useful, so ignored it for the most part.
EDIT: Aha! I remember! One of the bosses could smell you. You fight her during a heavy blizzard, so neither of you can see, but if shes downwind of you she can hit you.

Also, in MGS3 after the boss fight with Ocelot you need them to see in the cave you fall into until you find a torch.

This was in reference to Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake for the MSX. You use the cigs to determine the direction of the wind to use the hang glider properly.
