I bought this game yesterday and am not very far through it at all, but I am loving it already.
What is it about this game that is so awsome?
So far there is only one beef I ha ve with the game and that is not being able to move while shooting and not being able to move while attacking with the knife. It does make the game more intense, but it gets annoying or just hard to adapt to, not being able to shoot while on the go.

Bought it several years ago... and yes. It's fucking amazing. It single-handedly will prompt me to get a 360 or PS3 so I can play RE5.
The over the shoulder view is clutch.
Thou, because I am wroth, be not dismayed, for I shall win the strife, whoever circle round within for the defence. This their insolence is not new, for of old they used it at a less secret gate, which still is found without a bolt. Above it thou didst see the dead inscription; and already on this side of it
descends the steep, passing without escort through the circles,
One such that by him the city shall be opened to us.

This game is awesome, did you get it for wii? Because I beat the shit out of it on GC. Its a very good game. THe survival mode is real good too, tons of unlockables.
I've played it on Gamecube several times, and just recently bought it cheap for the Wii, to get those sweet, sweet unlockables I missed out on. Only problem is, since I have to constantly be pointing at the screen, it makes my wrist hurt after fifteen minutes or so.
I loved Resident Evil 4, but since it was the first RE game I played, it sort of ruined the rest of the series for me. A friend is pressuring me into playing Resident Evil 2, and I just...can't.

I have both the Gamecube and Wii versions of that game, and I must say, it's one of the best games on both the Gamecube and Wii.

If you have destroyed the GC version, and unlocked everything basically, is it worth getting the wii version?
I got the special edition for the GC the day before it came out and it doesn't get old almost 4 years later. Then I bought the PS2 version just because of the extra scenerio.

I think so, especially when that target game is easier to play on the Wii. In fact, I was even able to take out the Salazar targets in the very back, something I never did on the Gamecube version.

I found this video last week, Differences in the US and Japan version:
only thing i'm confused with is which is the us and which is japan. if the first one is US, then maybe that's why it is awesome.
I haven't played RE4 but from what i've heard, your going to miss only having to worrying about standing still once you find her.

You can buy another one for money, but your normal handgun does slightly more damage. The punisher just goes through multiple targets, so isn't really needed.

I got it sometime last year, and I ended up playing it through the rest of my vacation. Better than all the RE games.

RE5 looks so sick as well, same style with updated graphics.
Resident is my favorite game series of all time and the only "killer app" game that exists for me. I loved San Andreas but that didnt prompt me to get a 360 for GTAIV like I thought I would but for Resident Evil 5 I am definately ponying up the cash for either a 360 or PS3.
I remember having an Super Nintendo and then getting a Playstation and playing Resident Evil 2. It was like the difference between night and day. I spend like 2 weeks on that game and it took it a good 3 years for me to finally get tired of it.
Resident Evil 1 was the second Resident Evil I played. I played the original, dual shock and directors cut and it was fun as hell in its own right,A definate top 10 game on the PSOne. The only game I liked more than it was of course Resident Evil 2. Silent Hill is sorta tied with it for my second place.
Resident Evil 3 Nemesis was good and I had fun going through it but you can tell Capcom was focusing on Dino Crysis and it showed in the quality of this game. Still fun to break out sometimes, its like an extention of RE2 but not as memorable.
Resident Evil Code Veronica was great, better than Resident Evil 1 Original and Resident Evil 3. It was one of the main reasons I got a Dreamcast. I played the heck out of it and throughly enjoyed it. There were some scenes that seemed out of place, like revisiting the RE1 mansion but overall a great game.
Resident Evil ReMake was a mindblowing experience for me when I got it just like Resident Evil 2 for PSOne. I was simply amazed at the graphics I was seeing in front of me. In 2002 they were like top of the line in my eyes. I played the shit out of it and enjoyed it so much I traded it off 3 different times and bought it back 2 different times even though I was tired of it.
Resident Evil 0- Some people didnt like the story but I thought it was a damn fun game. I probably wouldnt have liked it as much if it was on the N64 but the zapping system in the game I really liked and was a fun new twist to me. I thought Rebecca and Billy were a great tandum and the game was a very solid addition to the series. I enjoy it probably more than Veronica looking back on it,and that game was damn fun as well.
Resident Evil 4- Basically they took my game and made it mainstream but it still was the best game of 2004 by far.I read no reviews for it and bought it the day it game out along with a gamecube and I was not disapointed in the least by the changes. I am just disapointed its taking so damn lang for Resident Evil 5 to come out.

I have ashley now, she doesnt ruin the game does she?
I kind of want to try other resident evil games but I don't think they will live up to this one. I'd rather a Zombie story though. I was told the others are almost unplayable in comparison, that the voice acting is terrible.

Try them before you knock them. Ashley doesn't ruin the game at all for me. She stays right behind you and doens't get caught very much.

The game is an absolute bitch to beat on Professional mode. At the end my death count was around 154.
The laser isn't even worth it, it's just like having infinite flash grenades. But the PS2/Wii versions are definitely worth the purchase just for the Separate Ways missions.

If that as "infinite flame grenades" then it would be worth it.

What is ridiculous is that Code Veronica came out on the Dreamcast in 2000 and you can get it for like 8-10 bucks on ebay, but put it on the Gamecube and its still 40 dollars used. Its basically almost the same damn game. The fucking Wii has messed up gamecube prices but for some reason the XBOX is cheaper even though the 360 has backwards compatability as well

After I bat the game and maxed out both my health bar and Ashley's I decided to try and go for a no-save game. As in sitting and playing through from beginning to end. Now you could argue some of the challenge was lost in that I was doing this with the Typewriter and a bunch of the better weapons, best suitcase, etc. I lasted long enough to make it to the laser chamber sequence after Krauser and was distracted by a gun shot outside, a few buildings down the road. 6 and a half hours down the drain.

The reason that RE2, RE2, and RECVX are still $40 on the Gamecube is because Capcom is fucking retarded. They signed an exclusivity deal with Nintendo for four RE ports and two new games. So they released the redone version of RE1 as well as RE0 and RE4, and then straight ports of RE2, RE3, and RECVX. I had always believed that all three games were DC ports, but I've heard that RE2 and RE3 are actually PSX ports, which is even lamer. On top of that, Capcom released the straight ports in extremely limited numbers, thus creating an artifical supply and demand issue, allowing them to charge $40 for games that should have been $20 budget titles and creating a pricy secondary market.
After the critical and financial success of the RE1 remake, you would have thought Capcom would have put more work into its other three GCN conversions. Instead, they pretty much blew off their contract with Nintendo, pressing just enough copies of lazy ports of RE2, RE3, and RECVX so they could say they tried. The games should have been easy money for Capcom, but instead they're rarer than Ikaruga. They're also far less desirable.

It's nice for those shield guys though.

Nice game, but it is highly over-rated in my opinion. People say it's flawless, but I could name a number of reasons why it's one of the weaker games in the RE series. I don't want to come off as a troll or anything because I'm not trying to piss off anyone, I'm just more critical of this game than most other people are.

Everything you said is correct
That is what pissed me off about Capcom, who is one of my favorites companies.
Nintendo game them hella money and a great piece of equipment in the cube and they basically shate on them and ported the games to the PS2 and even doing Outbreak and other on the PS2 instead of helping to develope a strong net play title for the Cube like what was suppose to happen.
Capcom has some of the best game programmers in the world who make high quality games, its just their management is all about money and competing with Konomi who themselves are about licking Sony's collective asses.
