they also give me the option of playing with the regular graphics.
the ONLY downside to some of these games is that they're usually the arcade version, and not the "customized for NES" versions of games like contra and double dragon and shit like that.

In some cases, like TMNT Arcade, that's a good thing. I personally like the arcade Double Dragon better than the NES one too.

If your talking about the original TMNT arcade than this is true, but if its turtles in time your referring to, than the SNES port is superior IMO.

Double Dragon 2 for NES was probably my favorite in the series. Probably cause I owned and played the crap out of it as a kid. I didn't care much for Super Double Dragon for some reason. Final Fight and Streets of Rage were much better beat em ups at the time imo.

Those games are decent, but Streets of Rage really is the ultimate beat em up IMO. I know everyone is all about SOR2, but I like 3 more. Th ability to dash and roll makes for a more intuitive and fast paced experience. Granted they are genesis games...

Interesting, believe it or not I never really fucked with super double dragon, just the prequels and Battletoads and Double Dragon. Perhaps I am long overdue for a romp through the game.

Maybe there's something wrong with the rom I got because I find Super Double Dragon to be slow and glitchy and the controls seem delayed.

maybe you jsut didn't give it enough time. the combat is a little more "realistic" with him crouching before jumping for example. you really get int oa rhythym with it and it jsut feels right. you feel almost like you're actualyl punching people, as you swing back and they reel from teh impact, as opposed to them jsut standing there stunned as you turbo punch them like in final fight.
