I've had my 360 for 3 years now and have never had the red lights or any other issues with it. I don't play it all that much though to be honest. One of my friends uses his heavily and has had to send his in twice so far. I think as long as you use it in a feasible manner (ie don't play Halo 3 and Call of Duty 4 online all fuckin day long) you won't have problems.

Sidebar: when GTA IV first came out, I remember reading that it killed some PS3s so its not immune to these types of problems.

Anyway, a year ago I would have strongly leaned towards the 360 over PS3, but now I'd probably go the other way. You can play 80% of the worthwhile games on either system, but for 100 bucks more the PS3 has some really appealing features that you won't find on 360. Bluray, rechargable controllers and wifi would be more than worth the extra cost imo. I stopped going online with my 360 because I don't want to run a cable from my bedroom to my living room and I refuse to pay 80 bucks for the 360's wifi adapter.

The 360 is a fine system for the price, but at this point, if you can afford it, go with PS3.

the ps3 also bricked when they came out w/a patch a while ago. they had to postpone the patch for a week to avoid further bricking of hardware

Ooh, isn't Fist of the North Star by the Guilty Gear people? Is Melty Blood on the PS3?

I'm surprised you've heard of melty blood.

to my knowledge melty blood was on the PC, then they released one in the arcades and on the ps2 in japan only. there's a new one coming out in the arcade soon, so I'm sure if it gets a home release it'll be on ps3.

man, another reason to own a ps3.

Eh, Melty Blood is sprite based. It could be on any system. Especially since the PS2 version was published by Sega Sammy. But niche Japanese stuff tends to end up on the PS2 or Wii. Case in point, Fist of the North Star was a PS2 game.

Even if it was released on the PS3, Melty Blood is hardly a "I need to get a P3S" purchase because someone will translate the PC version of any new Melty Blood and torrent it.

My Xbox just RROD'd. It sucks, but as long as they're willing to fix it for free, it's not that big of a deal.

The only PS3 game I want that isn't available on Xbox is MGS4......but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that that will change.

I bought a PS3 a year ago, and Im not going to say its super special. The network has a decent amount of people, like I mean its growing to a pretty good amount of people. The games, even if they are on different sytems I happen to like them better on the PS3. It has BR so thats a plus. Im not going to don't buy a 360 or a Wii because they are both great systems, but if you have the extra cash get a PS3 80gb so you can have backward compatibility too. I personally love all the exclusives on the PS3, and Im also lookin forward to getting MGS4, GOW 3, Folklore, Tekken 5, and other exclusives that I have forgotten the name of.

no, but if I'm gettign a ps3 for other games, this would be another thign to add to the list. I don't think the new game is gonna be on the PC either.

ALTHOUGH...

Do a search on youtube for PS3 yellow light .

Sony can't fix their problem without completely redesigning the system from scratch . You know why ? Look at all the other systems . They have a power brick . Because the voltage coming out of your socket is higher that 9 volts or whatever the systems run on . The brick has coils in there that converts the voltage down . That excess energy has to go somewhere , right ? Well it escapes as heat . Sony did a totally stupid thing . They put the power brick inside the system . Hence why the thing will basically overheat & fry itself .

the wii and the 360, kind sir.

the ps2 had an internal power brick, and the overheating caused the awesome DRE. you would think they'd have learned by now.

Besides MGS4, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune is my favorite PS3 exclusive. It's a mix between Tomb Raider and Gears of War but better than either of those two IMO.

The PS3 also has a decent amount of good downloadable games Including, PixelJunk Eden, PixelJunk Monsters, Pain, Echochrome, and Super Stardust HD.

After the death of my 2nd 360 I started buying multiplatform games for the PS3, and there's a pretty large library of those now as well.
