I don't want one, but there are three games that I'm really interested in:
MGS4
God of War
Capcom Vs. Tatsunoko (not coming out in america, and ps3 doesn't do reigons)
the only other exclusives that seem vaguely interesting are:
motorstorm, which is a glitchfest
resistance, which I beat
resistance 2, which is a maybe
haze, which I can do without
ratchet and clank, which I can do without
folklore.
talk me out of buying one/convince me I'm making a good decision/ discuss alternitaves.

I will very likely get one too once God of War 3 is out. The first 2 games were among my all time favorites on PS2. The only other game that interests me is MGS4, but I'm not in any rush to play that. Even though I would only be buying it for 1 or 2 games I'll somehow convince myself it's worth it for the Bluray player.

i would only get it for the BR (which can wait) + GOW 3 (which cant wait)
I am a huge fan of the GOW games and i would feel like a sellout if i didnt buy it the second it came out.

I also decided to buy a PS3 after I sat a debated in the local Best Buy for like 3 fucking hours. I think the workers prolly thought I was going to steal something.
Besides the fact of the lack-luster amount of titles available, I think the main reason why I forked over the cash was for it's blu ray capabilities and well, since I bought it I must say that I have no regrets.
Maybe until it craps out on me. I didn't purchase the extended warrenty. Just my luck. Excuse me why I go and knock on fucking wood right quick.

I considered getting it, till they took out backwards comp. Now I'll just get a PS2. The library sucks. Only game I'd play is God of War 3. And that import thing Jew mentioned.

Any game I'm concerned about on PS3 is coming out on 360 also but I decided to go with PS3 when the time comes because I keep hearing horror stories of the 360 red ring. Before that I was planning on getting one instead but I'm now detoured.

Out of everyone that I know who has a 360, only one of them ever got a red ring, and that was me, and that was because the one I bought already had a red ring. it's covered under warranty, where microsoft will fix it for free, and the newer systems are made so that they can't even get a red ring. it was a small problem with overheating in a limited number of units that were made quickly by outsourced factories during a holiday rush.
I suppose the better option would be to buy a 400 dollar paperweight that has the same problems, shitty online, and less than half the library, right?

the way the shell is made, it collects ALOT of dust. on top of that, the system runs very hot. that causes the processor to burn out.
sometimes the harddrive decides not to work anymore either, and a ps3 won't even go to the dashboard without a workign harddrive.
I'm not telling you what to do with your money, I'm jsut saying it would be silly to buy an inferior system jsut because of some half assed, second hand information.

i never got a red ring and never had to replace my 360.
granted i bought the more expensive elite system, but still, no issues. and i havent heard of any issues from my friends in a long time. they did have a lot of issues when the 360 first came out, but they seem to be doing well now.

PS3 isn't region-encoded? I might just grab one to play Fist of the North Star. Of course, it would have to be the original 80GB model with hardware backwards compatibility.

Only has MGS4, and the only future exclusive that interests me is Twisted Metal PS3 and that's at least a year yet.

Yeah. It basically plays like a slower Guilty Gear, but I like the anime and think the game looks really fun.

I like the PSN, the fact that you can use the PS3 controller as a computer controller, and the fact that it's a BR player. I have played it a hell of a lot more then my 360. I can upload movies on to the PS3,
The thing with 360 vs. PS3's network. If PS3's network was just as good as 360's they (Microsoft) couldn't charge you for it or atleast as much. Charging everyone on there, what is it, $60 for a year, they better damn well have a better network than everyone. I never really get why everyone says that 360 has such a better network. Granted I only played Halo and a game of Madden online.
I got red ringed 3 times during my possesion of the 360. They even supposedly gave me a new system. So after the last red ring I got it fixed and sold it.

I actually got so paranoid about the red ring stories that I actually sold my 360 last fall since it was manufactured in March of 06 and I was afraid that I would have a worthless machine on my hands if I kept it any longer. I have never in my life been that paranoid about a system.
I managed to get 250 for it which was a fair price since Halo 2 was about to come out and everyone was wanting a 360.

I'm assuming you meant Halo 3, because owning a 360 when Halo 2 came out would have been far to awesome for you to have accomplished.
