Since Gamespot is trying to dump used Xbox games for ridiculous prices (got 5 games for 10 bucks), and the mail delivery place in my town blows, I've been picking up a lot of cheap titles for my Xbox. The cheap prices let me be more adventurous with my purchases, picking up stuff completely on a whim for about $2-$3. Thing is, a lot of these are damned good, and got passed over by reviewers and players alike. Games like Cold Fear, Sniper Elite: Berlin 1945, and Arx Fatalis were very overlooked at their time, but have been providing me with a lot of fun.
So does anyone have any recent forgotten games they'd like to recommend? I'm not talking about games like Psychonauts which got good reviews and have a large fan-base. I'm talking about games with small popularity, and lukewarm reviews that are really fun either way.
So here's to you Mrs. Robinson. People love you more- oh, nevermind.

Im like that with gamecube and GBA. So many great games I never experienced, and now they are soo cheap.
I hope this applys to any system, because I know nothing about the Xbox.
I would say Road Rash, the PC version.

Yeah, but keep it limited to games released in America/Europe/Aus from PS2 to the present. Otherwise we'll get some guy freaking out that we didn't import some game from Japan for the NES, calling everyone else a fake gamer if they don't grab it.

You gotta get Bikkuri Nekketsu Shin Kiroku! Harukanaru Kin Medal imported for the Famicom, its the shit!! Or else your just a fake gamer...
Octomania on the Wii. It came out in March and went virtually ignored to the point where I picked it up for $9.99 at Best Buy a week and a half ago. The game was already a budget title, but still.
It's a really fun puzzle, really addictive Super Puzzle Fighter type game from the creators of Puyo Puyo.
Einhander for the PSX. The copy I had originally, crashed consistently after the 5th level boss, causing me to have to restart the entire game from the start, hoping it wouldn't crash again.
Also, Milon's Secret Castle for the NES. I loved the game as a kid, nobody seems to remember it though.

Cold Fear is a good game,
also check out Silent Hill 2 and the Knights of the Old Republic series on the XBOx

Martian Gothic on the PS1. I remember seeing it in an old video game advertisement and thinking it look cool, and a couple years ago I managed to find it at Gamestop for three bucks. It's a lot like Resident Evil, but more puzzle oriented, and with an interesting premise: you have three characters that you can switch between on the fly, yet if they step within fifteen feet of each other, they die (and it shouldn't surprise anyone that there are puzzles oriented around using all three people).

KOTR II and Hitman Bloodmoney are two of the best ways to kill time with and Xbox, also whichever of the later gen 3d Mortal Kombat had the character creation function was badass once you took the time to unlock each and every move / costume piece.

KOTOR would hardly qualify as a "forgotten gem." Both were widely considered among the best games for the console.

Very true, but you can still probably get them for dirt cheap nowadays.

What the fuck?! There is no way you can possibly be serious. I usually play that game when I'm sitting here going, "What game can I play that is so ridiculous that I will get infuriated playing."
For PSX there was a game like Resident Evil, I think it was Countdown Vampires or something. It was pretty damn good. It wasn't a forgotten gem, because hardly anyone even knew it existed. Look for it.

Now is the time to invest in the original XBox library
I got KOTR today for 10 bucks. KOTOR2 and San Andreas were still overpriced at 19.95 though.
Gamestop has this thing where if you buy 2 xbox games you get 1 free of equal value so I ended up getting Silent Hill 2 for free.
Also they have like Unreal Extreme for like 2 bucks right now which seems extremly cheap and Unreal 2 for 3 bucks.

I remember Vigilante 8 on the PSX (the sequel). It was good. If you can get it and get a second player, do so.
Also, I remember a game that nobody will know and as far as I know, I had the only copy in the entire world. It was a 3D action game not unlike Tomb Raider (except TR had way better graphics) called Rising Zan: The Samurai Gunman. Yeah. You were a samurai. And you used both a sword and a revolver. I remember that I thought that game was really awesome.
Whoops, looks like I'm not the only one with that game.
Looking back, I think that the in-game voice acting sucks balls like a vacuum.

My buddy got it after an episode of Extended Play (now known as X-Play on G4), and it was pretty much only fun for its weirdness. Maybe I'm just mad because it's graphics were so bad they literally gave me a headache.

I had the exact same experience when all the stores were trying to get rid of N64 carts, Conker's Bad Fur Day, 5$, Kmart.
