I like videogames a great deal. But in particular, I'm fond of 2D fighters. Recently I found a way to re-experience the game "King of Fighters 98, the dream match never ends". I chose this one because its the one I played in the arcade in my town, and has the characters I wanted to revisit. And I indeed rediscovered something about the game I forgot.
How terribly frustrating cyber rugal bernstien is. Keep in mind, I took the significant number of losses against gill from SFIII in stride, and can now defeat him with regularity. And I suffered through eternal champions to battle the last boss who has no less than five forms. Its not just that he is mean, its that he is cheap. He does the genocide cutter constantly, because its mean damage, fast, and has enough invulnerability to negate anything you do. And the projectile move, well thats all you need. To get destroyed by the same move over and over is painful and aggravating in ways that other bosses cant match. Anyone else familiar with this sack of crap?

Rugal wrote the book on SNK boss syndrome. M. Bison was never that cheap.

M. Bison couldn't be that cheap... he was a playable character in half of the games where he was the end boss. Cyber Akuma could be a bitch though.

I think the cheapest boss ever was probably Magneto in X-Men: Children of the Atom. He had an invulnerabilty shield that he would CONSTANTLY put up for long periods of time and run down the clock.

A boss that runs down the clock? I never use that tactic, but its one of the more popular ones against the defensive rugal and the ressurecting gill. Thats evil.
Damn you magneto. I hope you land on a planet of plastic.

Its mean, oh yeah its mean. Heaven forbid you fail to stuff it and he heals completely. If only he would use the meteor one more often.
Interestingly enough, gill is a boss that not only may not be evil, but might be good in some sense. As he himself stated "My methods may seem harsh, in contrast to my true intentions". In any case better that he win versus his brother, or Akuma.
Hugo can win. So what if he conquers pro wrestling? What'cha gonna do!

Akuma doesn't kill people who don't deserve it.

Isnt that anyone who cant put his fist through a brick wall? The guy blathers on about how he will cure humanity of weakness like an insecure spartan.
That was a lame metaphor. You dont happen to have another term for hyper-masculine genocidal insecury rants do you? I got nothing.

The whole damn set of endgame bosses SNK insists on putting into every 2D fighting game they make can burn and die.
SNK boss syndrome.
