People are looking forward to the web 2.0, but what the fuck is the web 2.0?

Web 2.0 is basically dynamic interactive content.
MySpace, Facebook, the rise of Flash interactivity, social bookmarking websites, etc. are all "Web 2.0"

But all that is just part of the normal internet, just more advanced since the 90's.

Looks to me like some morons think they're being clever, by labeling the current internet as another version.
Sounds like something a preteen would come up with.

I don't know who came up with it first. Obviously the name stuck. Compared to the internet of the 1990s the internet now is unimaginable So I think there's some truth in Web 2.0 somewhere.

Dale Dougherty of O'Reilly & Associates (a publishing company that is known for making the best computer books around and having all of those weird animal drawings on its book covers) initially came up with it. But it was really made popular by Tim O'Reilly, the founder of O'Reilly & Associates.
Nobody really knows what Web 2.0 means, not even the creators of the term. They just listed examples of Web 2.0 sites and applications, because they couldn't really define it either. There's really no technological criteria that separates Web 2.0 from the earlier and still existing web. None of that would have mattered had they just called it something like "Collaborative Web" or "Platform-Oriented Web" instead of attaching a version number, which usually signifies some sort of technological leap. As it is now, any website that has "Beta" attached to its name is already Web 2.0.
Actually, with the recent addition of the Konami code, I think we can call it SydLexia.com beta.
