Those things defy all laws of physics. It's just unnatural!
I half expected Bill Cosby to jump out in the middle of the game with, "Ya seeee... you got the jigglin', the wigglin', an' it just makes dessert fun!"

God, I hate it when these Super-Awesome-Graphically-Based games have stretches of landscapes that force you to spend hours of your precious time to get to some next town or something. |
Reminds me of Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind. The miles between towns wouldn't be so bad if your character would move faster than two miles per hour. As someone who's only played Elder Scrolls IV and watched someone play Elder Scrolls III, I was amazed at how slow the people in that game move; why did anyone play that piece of crap?

It's called athletics skill. The more you up it, the faster you move.
I'd like to see WoW get the fuck away from my single-player games. I'm getting really tired of fetch/kill quests that take forever (Oblivion, Mass Effect, and Psychonauts did this) that really hurt replayability.
Side-quests: Don't half-ass them. I just finished Mass Effect, and about 90% of the side-quests consisted of travelling to a planet, and enter a small base to kill everything (Bases all look exactly alike). I would have been fine if there were about half the number of side-quests that there were, but it got laborious (and I always try to finish all quests in single-player games, or I feel like I'm cheating myself out of the developers' intentions) and repetitive.

Yeah but my friend had an athletics skill of 26 and he was still moving as slow as molasses. Whenever I first saw this, I had a conversation with my friend that went like this:
Me: "Um, why are you just walking around? Wouldn't running be faster?"
Friend:"I am running."
Me: "No, you're walking."
F: "No, this is running. (Starts moving slower) THIS is walking."
M:"So that's as fast as you can go?"
F:"Yep."
First of all, that conversation shouldn't be occuring if we're playing a fun game. Second of all, I know that when you level up your athletics, you move faster, but on Oblivion I started out with an atheletics skill and I still moved at a relatively fast speed, on Morrowind it just looks like you're lurching...

I hate shitty villains in RPGs. Everyone gives Kefka shit for being a clown, but at least he isn't an overblown, generic, stupid, cliché, "cool looking" long haired pretty boy animu homosexual faggot like Sephiroth. One of the worst video game characters ever, easily.

Load times. I HATE load times of any kind... yeah, I'm old school, but last I checked FF3 didn't need 5 minutes to load a spell from an SNES cartridge.
You guys can do better. Figure it out.

The level up system for Morrowind was seriously broken, it should never take 300 plus stabs to actually hit a dog sized rat that is jumping up to bite at you, I can see the dagger thrusting towards the damn rat, but no I somehow missed. argh!

Ha, I remember that too. There are a lot of things screwed up in Morrowind.

I don't know if anyone else has noticed this, but I have Street Fighter Alpha 2 on the SNES, and the game has a crapload of loading. On a cartridge! Weird...

I guess they wanted to shove one last SF on the SNES. But yeah, it's not that great, my favorite SF character, Rose, plays like crap on it, so I don't play the game very much.

One of my biggest hates about some games from back in the day, is when you go to first play and beat the game on easy or even medium and work your way up. Then when you're about to go to the final area or final boss. Some text comes up and tells you that "You have to play the game on a harder difficulty setting to reach this part" or some bs like that. This happened yesterday when I was going through Golden Axe II.

I hate it when you can do an action in one area, but in the next area INSTANTLY you will get shot in the face. Like in Hitman: Contracts, there is a mission where you run CONSTANTLY throughout the mission, past pretty much every enemy in the game, in ludicrous costumes to boot, but when you run through a mansion in a rich-looking suit, everybody has a bloodlust.

I hate it when you change zones in a game with a fixed camera, and the new zone starts you out on the opposite side of the fucking map, so me like a dumbass holding down left during the load screen, zones immediately back into the last area.

It's impossible with disk systems alone. The best remedy is to have more hard drive interaction in games, but that creates copyright problems. It's a vicious circle.

One thing that ruins video games for me are scratches in the discs. I hate playing a game with f'ed up sound or the game will freeze because of a scratched disc.
