I mowed the front yard yesterday. When my mother left this morning, she poked her head back in to inform me that I had left the clippers and a few empty grass bags on the front porch steps. After she left I threw on some clothes and wandered outside to put those away.

Sitting right in the middle of the empty folded grass bags on the front porch steps was a folded pocket knife. I kinda eyed it for a moment, then moved it aside and put the clippers and the grass bags away.

Neither my mother or I own a pocket knife. This means that some stranger came up to our house in the middle of the night and did something, and left this pocket knife behind.

There are some kids that live across the street that occasionally act up and do crazy shit (like set their yard on fire), so I wonder if it belongs to them. If so, why were they at our house last night? And why did they leave this pocket knife on our front steps? Confused

Knowing people were at your house in the middle of the night is mildly creepy.

Do you get your lawn fertilized?

They usually drop a bill off at the front door where I live. The guy could have dropped the knife.

Nope.

Well, yes, we do get our lawn fertilized, but I mowed the yard yesterday evening, and finished around 8pm. They lawn dudes don't come in the middle of the night to do their work.

Haha, I had a big black lab too. He was also a wuss, but he could at least alert us to anything that was outside, even if he did so by whimpering or running and hiding.

Put up a security camera and survey the area for a while. And most definitely get a motion sensor light if the former seems too absurd.

keep to doors locked, stay away from the windows, don't answer the house phone only your cell, if it is too bad leave home and go to a friends house, also tell your mom or dad or whatever about the knife, it's not that bad, I am guessing you live in a fairly suburban neighboorhood, not like where I grew up as a small child, trust me you are fine, just be safe no worries
