So I called Nintendo a little while ago. I asked the representative, "Don't you think it's time you let us consumers have a say in what games come out on the Virtual Console?" She responded by saying they actually let consumers submit requests, and followed up with a question as to which games I wanted to hit the VC. I answered with the two that I--we--are inexplicably still waiting for: Contra and Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse. Then she says that when Contra becomes downloadable, it will be under WiiWare because it wasn't made by Nintendo. After trying to sort out that which I shouldn't have to sort out, namely that the Wii Shop Channel sells games for past systems, regardless of what company made them, while WiiWare sells all-new Wii-exclusive games, I told her to tell her bosses not to pull that bullshit. I doubt they'll listen, though. Oh, and I also told her to tell them that I'm not the only one who'd complain if they knew. Now that you guys know, wanna complain and prove me right?

Yeah...I don't see how Contra would be released under WiiWare. Sounds like she doesn't know what she's talking about.

Contra III and Super C are both currently on the VC. Isn't that good enough for now?

1) WiiWare is stupid because the system doesn't have enough storage memory to support it.
2) Wii Points are stupid because buying stuff shouldn't require doing additional math beyond regular currency.

1 point = 1 cent. How hard is that?

I didn't say it was hard. I said it was additional math. And it is.

i kind of agree w/GP on this one. why not just put real prices on the games like the PSN does?

i hate how XBLA has their math set up. 800 points = $10.

JUST PUT REAL PRICES ON THERE.

I'm not one who gives a shit about the extras on a console, I only play games on them. That being said, I have never gone online with my Wii so what's the difference between WiiWare and VC?

It makes more money for Microsoft to charge you in its current increments and points system, that's why. Plus, it allows them to charge nice, ten-rounded points to prices in effort to have a few points leftover in your account after a purchase so that you can buy more points to get more crap.

So here's to you Mrs. Robinson. People love you more- oh, nevermind.

Every week, my friend that I work with blows 20-40 bucks on Wii/XBLA points... I just can't fathom doing that myself.

Remember when I put up Which #7 is better? and I admitted that I'd never played Contra? One little detail I forgot to mention: It's one of my biggest regrets, and it only gets worse each week that I don't see it available for download. So no.

That's cool though. I might if I knew what to use them for! I've been thinking about buying some NES games.

Are you talking Wii points or XBox? What do you do with 'em all? I'd like some info on all this stuff, because I've just recently started getting into online use of my Wii.

Why not just play it on an emulator? Holding out for the VC version isn't worth it. Not when you're missing out on one of the best NES games of all time. Furthermore, what if it never comes out on VC?

With a video out cable to your tv and a good joypad, it's going to be the exact same experience as playing the VC version of the game anyway. You could even hook up an actual NES pad for a more authentic experience than you can find on the Wii.

And I think the propensity to abuse the save state excuse is moot. There are emulators that don't have save state functionality if you want to be that much of a purist.

If you must support Nintendo and Konami or whatever then you can still buy the VC edition when/if it comes out, but in the meantime PLAY CONTRA!

A-fucking-men. There's probably like a dollar or so left worth of points that I'll never get back, because of that shit.

Don't you think I've tried? Two years ago, I had a NESticle on my house's PC back when it worked with all the games on it, but Contra was one of the ROMs that never worked.

No offense, but you didn't try hard enough then. You likely just had a corrupt rom. Trying a different rom and/or possibly emulator would have done the trick. Nobody had issues playing it for the NES challenge so I'd say you just gave up too easily.

VC is where you buy all the old rereleased games. WiiWare is brand new (mostly indie) games that are only sold online.

I have been told that indeed the Wii points anyway, are set up that way so that it works for currencies around the world evenly. Nice round math no matter what country you are in.

I could see myself spending $20 a week on WiiWare/VC downloads if the Wii actually had the HD space to hold that much stuff.

1.) The Wii were equipped to handle the demands.
2.) I didn't already own the games that I would want to download
3.) I could just pay a direct monetary amount against a credit card... ya know... like how they do it on the internet.
4.) My wife wouldn't slap the shit out of me for it.

I have heard of 2 things for the Wii that are being developed
1. A firmware update so you could play games from your memory card.
2. An external hardrive.

I'm not getting nearly the reactions I thought I'd get in this thread. Where's my rally of support?
