Dr. Phil is great. Using his soundboards to make prank calls is a great source of entertainment.

I swear to god, how can someone solve ANYONE'S problems when he knows them and their cases for what, ten minutes before showtime?

Thats my only beef. Plus, I have enough of my own problems as it is, I dont need to see someone elses.

Not only does Dr. Phil ask audience members if they have any mental illness, and or are under psychiatric care, but if you say yes, then you either are not allowed to speak or ask questions, or are not allowed to be in the audience period. Furthermore, google when Dr. Drew, a real MD and psychiatrist not a psychologist, and someone with a license to practice, Dr. Phil has not had one for years, tore him a new one about visiting Brittany Spears in the hospital on one of her breakdown nights. "It's never good for an addict when there are multiple sources getting involved. You have to have a unified front. Addicts love a split. it helps them maintain the chaos. He's not a physician. I'm a MD. I went to medical school. He's a psychologist and I don't think he has a license in California." And as I stated he isn't licensed, not their, or for many years, anywhere.
This isn't even the first time his medical ethics have been called into question.
In the 80's he was was brought up on ethics charges by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists for having a “dual relationship” with a patient. The Board did not strip him of his license, but required him to obtain supervision of his practice for 1 year, and to complete an ethics course as well as further examinations by the Board. And people trust this guy for advice?

I feel the need to note that Doctor Drew is awesome and I am listening to him right now.

As for Doctor Phil, my main beef with him is he doesn't do anything besides point out the problem and then tells you to stop. It doesn't work like that.

I remember cedric the entertainer parady Dr. Phil one time and blurted out a quote i have never forgot:

"Remember, if your duck starts barking, you better throw a clown at your president"

It's Phil's metaphors that can get people pissed at him mainly because half the time, nobody knows what the hell he is saying. Plus he sold his soul to Oprah.

His wife is an absolute money-grubbing bitch. She's essentially pulling all the strings here. I wouldn't doubt that she pressured him into bringing up the Britney Spears thing -- which is a complete breach of doctor-patient confidentiality, not to mention that Spears didn't even want him there in the first place -- to generate media attention. I'm not saying she did necessarily, just that I wouldn't be surprised, 'sall.

Oh yeah, and you know how he doesn't have a license to practice in California, or anywhere for that matter? And that he never was licensed in a field that was related to psychiatry or mental health (he did his thesis on rheumatoid arthitis, for Chrissakes)? He just did therapy; as far as I'm concerned, there is no medicine attached to that (technically, there could be, but there isn't, for the sake of argument). AND that the reason his license in Texas was revoked was because he had a sexual relationship (great euphemism, that "dual relationship" mentioned up there) with a teenage client (it actually was revoked, a little later, after the disciplinary hearing).

Yeah. So he sucks purely because HE'S NOT A REAL FUCKING DOCTOR. Just a creepy, old perverted man with a terrible moustache.

I love how Joyce Brothers defended him after the Britney Spears thing. She fucking sucks just as much.

I just think it's annoying how Dr. Phil always points out the obvious and then the audience starts clapping as if this is some magnificent revelation.
