I was going to put this in the Bullshit thread but it conveys most of the problems people see in gaming today (even in good games) and it's got alot to say. #1 is by far the golden rule that will never be adopted, sadly. i still play old school games for the game play, i could honestly give a shit what it looks like:

After reading this, it felt like Mike Capps was right about "going backwards". . . only about the industry as a whole. Props to Nintendo for still being the best!

The only one I really disagree with is numero 2 in the case of Zelda. I like an expansive world, especially in Zelda because there's all kinds of neat stuff to look at.
Also the quick time events one I kind of agree with and kind of don't agree with.
It worked in RE4 because it was a main -part- of the game. It didn't work in uncharted or tomb raider because they were sparse, in between six hour cutscenes and you didn't know when they were coming.

the knife fight with krauser was the easiest quicktime event in the game because by then you know when they usually show up

the hardest was the 'oh hey we have these quicktime event things' at the beginning of the game

I want to go on the record now: I'm the one. I like the escort missions. They're making them for me.

There's a difference between "expansive world" and "Miles of boring terrain that takes you 2 minutes to cross with maybe one enemy that might get in your way if you're retarded". And God help you if you have to walk across it.

Wind Waker kills you with this stuff. I'm the exception, I found the sailing bit fun for about 20 minutes (most people are pissed after 10).

I've never played RE4, but one of the things that really pissed me off about Kingdom Hearts 2 is that many of the boss fights were little more than "hit the right button at the right time, or you're screwed"

escort missions usually wouldn't be that bad if your escort wasn't purposefully made to be the most irritating fucking character in the game (ashley in re4) or was completely retarded and had no method of defending themselves (yorda)

the problem was how long it was.

plus it was an awesome scene, so you either had to watch it and die or pay attention to the prompts and miss it.

There are people who say that preventing saves adds to the "tension" of the game. Sure, in the sense that the fact that your 360 could catch on fire at any moment also adds to the tension.

That's because most American cartoonist are going to Japan to draw Hentai.

I read that a while ago, and I literally threw my arms up and said "thank you!" in public when he mentioned the whole in-order processing bullshit in the consoles. Honestly, if I could afford to play PC games, I would because I'm tired of retarded enemy AI in games in favor of normal-mapped clothing and bouncing boob physics.

EDIT: Nevermind, I'm thinking of a different piece that he put on that site. IGNORE ME.

So here's to you Mrs. Robinson. People love you more- oh, nevermind.
