Ok, so a couple weeks ago I somehow got a shitload of spyware. After using ViRobot to remove it all, the fucking shit kept getting back on my computer time after time again. Finally my Dad totally redid my fucking computer, there was no more spyware, and life was good again.

Then today I tried to download CamStudio, WHICH GAVE ME A MOTHERFUCKING TROJAN VIRUS!!! ViRobot got rid of it, but now I have 123 fucking things of Adware also.

Holy fucking shit, I am so fucking annoyed about this. Hopefully ViRobot will get rid of this, because my Dad will get pissed at having to redo my computer AGAIN!!! Is there any way to get rid of this for good?

I used to use AdAware. Seemed to do the trick. Now I just make sure my Firefox and Norton settings are current.

AdAware is only one piece of the puzzle.

Spybot is also a good companion, as AdAware & Spybot will each find things the other don't. Also, make sure you have a good anti-rootkit program as well.

Yea I use the combo of Adaware and Spybot too, but I haven't had any spyware problems in a long, long time. Smart browsing habits + common sense > any anti spyware/malware program.

1) Windows Defender (Free)
2) Threat Fire (Free)
3) AVG Free or Avast 4 Antivirus (Free)

After you install those three items, you will have severely reduced the likelihood of getting another virus/malware.

Spybot is terrible. Do not use it.

It has a nasty habit of using your HOSTS file to block access to sites it doesn't like, including p2p and torrent sites. It also blocked the Alexa site on me once.

My bad, I was directing the question towards Burt Reynolds. Yes and they have those gay looking Beetles with the Geek Squad logos.

Personally, before scanning the system with apps like SpyBot or AdAware, I try to break the execution of currently running malicious software processes with a program called "Security Task Manager". It can also delete that file, but like everyone knows it's not enough by itself.

I always use SpyBot but no TeaTimer. That resident application is quite hard to control.

After I think my system totally got rid of the malware, I usually install ZoneAlarm and monitor the communication myself. Yes it's sometimes a pain in the neck but after configuring it to allow my favorite apps and with a proper updating, I can say I don't need anything else. I can also say I didn't scan my computer for malware for months in the period I used ZA.
