Yes that is ridiculous. But to be fair Air America, the channel that broad is on, is awful trash, just on the other end of the spectrum.

Absolutely. I don't agree with either extreme end, but it just seems like the more widespead ridiculousness is coming from the right. No one gives a shit about the far left because they're unorganized and people don't listen to them, for the most part.

But there are people who listen to what O'Reilly and Coulter say and take it as FACT and actually vote based on the "facts" they've heard spewed from the mouths of these retards.

Obama as a Muslim? Untrue, but people in West Virginia voted in droves for Clinton because they "knew" he was a Muslim from hearing O'Reilly, Hannity, and Coulter say so.

It was a fucking fist bump, and the morons who really feel that it could've been interpreted as a "terrorist fist jab" should die.

That is true. Air America I believe filed for Bankruptcy, while Rupert Murdok pumps tons of cash into Fox and dictates his beliefs through his network. The Fox network is so sly, they spin things cleverly and overblow rediculous events into "newsworthy" material. So what if Obama is a Muslim anyway. I don't give a fuck. Muslims live here too, not just Evangelists. It's a non-issue.

On the other hand Airamerica is just a bunch of wanna-be comedians that act smarmy, and like talking about how dumb old white people are. BORING. Go fuck yourselves.

1. The fist bump = terrorism story in unequivocally retarded. Who says that?
2. You're doing the exact same thing that you hate Fox News for, misrepresenting facts based on assumptions you have on something that you hate too much to properly research. Neither Bill O'Reilly or Sean Hannity has ever said that Obama was Muslim. Ann Coulter probably did. Then again, there's a reason people like Ann Coulter aren't allowed to have their own TV shows. At any rate, your assertion is almost certainly based on secondhand or perhaps even thirdhand accounts of Fox News, which is direly irresponsible.

The story that Obama was allegedly Muslim was not spread by cable news; it was spread via an internet chain letter.

Cable news, in general, is worthless. There isn't 24 hours worth of news to report in a day, so they all run idiotic filler stories. Case in point: MSNBC ran a story about a story another station ran. And I'm certainly not saying Fox News is great. But if you're going to complain about them, don't make stuff up. The fact that they ran a story about the fist bump is idiotic enough, without trying to link them to the Obama = Muslim smear campaign. But then again, every station ran like five stories about the fucking fist bump. Fuck fist bumps. That shit was stale 10 years ago.

As retarded as the claim that a fist bump is a signal for terrorism is, I found myself hating Keith Olbermann more than any dipshits that might make that claim.

He's the biggest douche bag I can think of on television. At least Ann Coulter is an admitted shill for the Republican party. Olbermann sits there under the guise of "journalism" and giggles to himself and his left-wing guests about how stupid everything the Republicans do is stupid, evil, or stupid AND evil. And while the Republicans have given him plenty of stupid ammo to use in recent years, his air of elitism really makes me want to punch him in the mouth.

EDIT: Holy shit, I used the word "stupid" a lot in that post. My apologies to those that appreciate verbal variety Smile

Thou, because I am wroth, be not dismayed, for I shall win the strife, whoever circle round within for the defence. This their insolence is not new, for of old they used it at a less secret gate, which still is found without a bolt. Above it thou didst see the dead inscription; and already on this side of it
descends the steep, passing without escort through the circles,
One such that by him the city shall be opened to us.

I remember on youtube there was a clip of George Carlin on Olbermann's show saying "this is the best news program on television. I told one of your producers that earlier." I guess the reason why I bring this up is because Carlin always ragged on how you couldn't trust any news sources, then he goes on Olbermann's show and calls it the best thing ever.

That's because you can't trust any news source unless it shares your same ideology.

My dad has never voted republican, ever. But he always watches Fox News. He does this to try and understand why the "other side" thinks the way they do. I'm not exactly sure where I stand on the political spectrum. I'm pretty much near the middle of the road. But on certain topics, I might lean kind of far one way or the other. But if I had my way, we'd have more than just the two major parties as realistic choices.

But all in all, I can usually understand why either side takes the stance they do on given issues. But all the specuation and tactics are really what turns me off. For example, when Huckabee ran his add for the Christmas holliday, everyone started mouthing off about how it was nothing more that a tactic. Others said that even if there was more there, it was still a political tactic above all else. I don't know what his real intentions were. But in the event he or anyone else just wanted to sa Merry Christmas, God Bless or whatever, nobody will ever know for sure because people have ruined it for everyone. One day somebody will run who is completely honest, but nobody will know it because you can't trust anyone.

Thats why we shouldn't even have two major political parties. Democrats act one way Republicans act another. Then theres people like you and me who get stuck in the middle and if we voted the way we should we would vote for the non mainstream canidate. Fuck that shit. Give me old fashioned high school politics. Tell me what your gonna do, if I like I vote for you if I don't I can always vote for one of the other 6 people.

You, sir, are spinning. The "Obama is Muslim" thing in West Virginia couldn't have been spread via the internet because most of those backwoods rednecks cannot read nor can log into the internet. This Is A Joke

Having said that, Hannity asked three different guests in a 2-week span if they thought the stigma of Obama as a Muslim would have any affect on the races. The kind of person who feels the need to keep mentioning it on television is doing so to plant the seed in the minds of the dumber among us.

If I made a point of noting every time I talked about you on the forums that you're not a rapist, someone would eventually go around wondering if you really were a rapist, guaranteed.

I catch some Fox News when I can stand to stomach it; the problem is that it's usually unpalatable to me because of the lack of research and the controversial "topics" they bring up simply to create buzz, only to have two "experts" on later who will say it's not a big deal and move on. The fist bump tease is a perfect example of that.

Hell, the fist bump isn't even an issue if Fox News wasn't so goddamn irresponsible as to throw around the word terrorist when talking about it. This is the name news station that frequently calls Michelle Obama "Obama's babymama", which is completely disrespectful.

And I don't believe I'm unfairly casting Fox News into the "Obama = Muslim" smear. When the report came out that Obama had attended a madrassa as a child, Fox News jumped all over that story. When it was completely debunked, no other station would go near it but you'll STILL hear Fox News bring it up at times; not because they actually believe Obama is a Muslim or a terrorist but because if they say it enough times there are morons out there who will contact their own warped dots. And if I hear anymore about his goddamn middle name or a missing fucking flag pin, I'm gonna scream. Fuck Fox News.

Kinda off-topic, but I just read in the newspaper this morning that Obama wants to give a speech in front of the Brandenburg Gate. He's trying really hard to evoke the whole JFK comparison.

(FOX NEWS HEADLINE: OBAMA SEEKS SUPPORT IN NAZI GERMANY)

Hannity doesn't even have his own show. I would imagine Alan Colmes, the World's Most Unphotogenic Democrat, called him on it.

The fist bump became a story because the Obama campaign wanted it to be a story. He deliberately and repeatedly used the fist bump to help eschew this image that he's just a normal guy like you or me. It's idiotic and petty that a campaign would bother with image marketing on such a sublime level, but the fact that someone tried to link it to terrorism is hateful, ignorant, and all together irresponsible. Another story that's really annoyed me that Fox News keeps going back to is the whole Obama/American flag controversy. But it's also kind of disheartening that Obama has responded to their pointless criticism by wearing flag pins and making sure that there's at least three American flags near him in every photo op.

As for Brandenburg, there's only one great speech delivered by an American president there. Something about tearing down a wall.

I agree that wearing the lapel pin was disheartening, but the sad reality of election season is that if he hadn't, it would've continued to be a distraction and overshadowed other, more important issues. Politics have become a contest between the parties; whichever of the two can act the most reprehensible, most childish, most criminally slanderous wins.

To go back a bit, not everyone on Air America was terrible. I loved hearing Chuck D's take on a lot of things. I agree myself that I am quite middle of the road, and the 2 party systems blows hairy goat nuts. I think why Fox "News" is such a lightning rod is because of how outrageous, and overblown they are. Don't get me wrong I am not a fan of them at all, and I would love to cut O'Reilly's mic many times.

I used to hate O'Reilly. So I started to watch him (I dunno. Maybe I like arguing with the tv.) But the more I watched him, I started realizing I agree with a lot of things he said. Not everything, and the things I disagree with him on, I seem to strongly disagree with as almost an extreme opposite. But with a great deal of things, he seems to have a middle of the road, common sense point of view. He's a little old fashioned sometimes and a little naive. But there are times that I'm thinking that even Bill O'Reilly gets it, why can't this asshole he has on his show?

The one thing I do respect O'Reilly for is going after judges who go easy on predators. As big of a jackass as he can be, this does help cancel a lot of it out.

For me, Hannity is much worse than O'Reilly. Hannity seems to talk out of his ass more than anybody. It seems like he doesn't even research the topics, but rather just hears a story and forms an immediate opinion without getting all of the facts. But again, I love watching it because he and Colmes are such opposites and usually have a like minded guest to team with both hosts making it a free for all of insults and extreme opinions. It could only be better if cursing were allowed.

Personally, I would like to see a show like Hannity and Colmes with the Around the Horn format. A neutral, unbiased host (or one that just ignores his true feelings and doesn't show any bias), a panel of people with differing opinions, points awarded for logical statements, and deducted for saying dumb shit, and most importantly, a mute button so all these assholes don't talk at once. Get someone from the extreme left and one from the extreme right, then get a couple of moderates with slightly different opinions on things and let the competitive banter begin.

scamrock, The McLaughlin Group is a lot like what you described. Not quite, but close.

One thing Fox News does that really annoys me is that they refer to their morning show, Fox & Friends, as "the official morning show of the 2008 election". Uh... what? The 2008 election is not a licensed property and the claim is completely fabricated.

I don't know if I'm considered middle of the road, but I'm pretty much fiscally conservative, and as far as social liberties, extremely liberal. Although I admire their commitment to their beliefs, I really wish the Libertarian party would ease up on some things, then maybe we could have a 3rd party that is a true contender. People, even conservatives, don't want to be told that the government will pretty much be entirely eliminated, and it's honestly not a realistic solution at this point. We are too reliant on government services, but I do believe there is a lot of fat to be trimmed.
