This game is really growing on me as well. The graphics for the NES are pretty good. The shading on the characters show muscle tone and stuff. The animation ain't bad either. The tunes are catchy, stage appropriate, and not annoying. And once you figure out the hit detection and all that crap, it really isn't that difficult. In fact, I could probably beat it or get pretty far without game genie now. But since we can only use Jimmy I have to quit when he dies on me. Oh well.

Yeah, for a NES game its pretty good. I guess having one life is realistic, "because I have heard in RL (real life) you don't respawn". Also the game is actually entertaining, or at least to me it is. There are heaps of things I laugh at in this game like the reaction of people when you kick them in the balls and jumping in the air and throwing people by the heads.

Are you people on CRACK? This game STILL sucks. The fact that some of the moves are cool when you pull them off doesn't change the fact that it has horrid controls, a very unfair difficulty, a really stupid storyline, and there are only two viable means of actually advancing in the game (jumpkick madness and cyclone kick cheapness). It's wave after wave of the SAME FREAKING PEOPLE who have the same moves as you for the most part (some have a floaty jump kick...ooooooo!), with no real difference or variety between the places you fight them.
It's a huge step -backwards- from the game that came before it. Now, if this game had DDII's moveset, adding in the somersault, it would be much better. It wouldn't matter that you couldn't do the hurricane kick, you wouldn't need to do it constantly anyways.

The game isn't that bad Satsui.

Take your time with it. It's not as hard as it seems at first.

Past Double Dragon games didn't have a very big selection of enemies either.

I miss the Double Dragon 2 moves also, I never do the cyclone kick in that game. Uppercut or Knee is all.

I didn't say it was hard. I said it sucked.
A game where the only viable strategy is jumpkick, jumpkick, jumpkick, jumpkick, jumpkick, jumpkick, jumpkick, jumpkick, occasionally cyclone kick is not a good one.

A game where getting knocked down means you're losing 2 points of health because you're gonna get your ass beat when you get up until the guys standing over you decide to randomly stop is not a good one.

A game where the only difference between enemies is whether they bring a knife or a bottle to the fight is not a good one (even the ninjas aren't that different).

A game with spectacular moves that you -can't do- is not a good one.

Do I really need to go on?

Will Challenge 7 be up soon? I don't like DD3, so I'm looking forward to the new challenge.

The most obscure challenge of this entire competition so far.
This weeks challenge will be beat Castle of Dragon. Tiebreaker is time.

Now I haven't even played this game before just seen pictures, so I think I might actually have to do this one.

It's pretty straight forward of a challenge, so I would guess that you can use any means with in the game, besides codes/cheats, obviously.

I remember this game, it's like that Frankenstein one or the Trojan port but a bit better than that which still isn't saying much. It's not that tough of a game either, I made it to level 3 without even trying, pretty much just "walk forward, kill guy, walk forward, kill flying enemies" over and over again.
I had this confused with Dragon Fighter from some reason which is like Altered Beast but you can turn into a dragon and the game changes from a standard platformer into a Shump.
