and for the most part ds rpgs are pretty good i rather enjoyed ff3

Yep, it's confirmed:
The lovely folks at Square Enix sent out a press release today confirming Weekly Famitsu's report of the Chrono Trigger DS remake. The game will feature a new dungeon (yes!), a "wireless play mode", dual-screen presentation, and touch-screen functionality. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the use of the two screens will probably be pretty perfunctory, à la Final Fantasy III DS. We'll probably be able to use the stylus to move around and navigate menus, and the second screen will house extra menus and information. That new dungeon sounds intriguing, though.
No firm release date has been set, but it will drop sometime this holiday season, which could mean anywhere from October to Christmas. Similarly, mum's the word about the alleged graphical "enhancements." The announcement says that character artist Akira Toriyama will be on hand to "lend his signature art style to create [a] vibrant world," but there are no specifics. I suppose it could be redone in 3D, but I really hope that Square Enix holds on to the beautiful sprites that were so effective the first time around.
People like to be harsh on Square Enix for whoring out its popular franchises, but I doubt anyone will complain about this. Quite frankly, these remakes don't bother me that much -- the more people that get to play Chrono Trigger, the better.

Seriously Nintendo. I do not have a qualm with you re-releasing old shit. Hell ,that's pretty much the only reason I was involved with new consoles for the past 5-6 years. You were somewhat consistent with it. Sure, old Mario games were released on the GBA, LttP was put on GBA. Mega Man, Sonic, and Zelda collections were released on GameCube. But now you have a fucking system that was supposed to revolutionize backwards compatability with the Virtual Console. So why the fuck are you putting old games on the DS still? There is no fucking reason for you to do that! You put out Mario 64 on the DS, whatever, it was before the Wii came out, and when it arrived you made it available on the VC. So this more or less eliminates the reason to re-package or add things here and there on the DS. Most purist gamers don't even want that shit anyway.
SO WHY THE FUCK ARE YOU PUTTING OUT FINAL FANTASY IV AND CHRONO TRIGGER ON THE DS?! SERIOUSLY?! YOU FUCKERS CAN'T JUST SLAP THEM ON THE VC JUST LIKE YOU DID CASTLEVANIA, CONTRA III, STREET FIGHTER II AND ALL THE OTHER THIRD PARTY SHIT?!?
Ever since fucking WiiWare came out the VC has more or less been thrown to the wolves. What would have been a brilliant way to end emulator bootlegging among those gamers smart enough to understand economics, has been tossed out the fucking window!
I do not want to get a goddamn DS to play CT and FF4 for the first time. The reason I bought Super Metroid and R-Type III, games that I never played when I was weening on the SNES in its prime, in the first place was so I could try and imagine my youngerself playing them on that scenario. You can't goddamn do that on a handheld system!
You know, as time was marching on, I was beginning to warm up to these RPG's I had heard so much about. Hell I even gave Final Fantasy VI a brief spin on my laptop (there was no way in hell I was going to try and tackle that with my current routines), but unfortunately, some good deeds still go unpunished.
Fuck FFIV, fuck Chrono Trigger, and fuck the goddamn DS. I was doing just fine before all these came along, and I'll continue to do just fine without them!

They're probably gauging consumer interest to help Squenix figure out whether or not to bring the series back.

They can charge you $40 for the game on DS vs. $8 on the VC so...yea.
I said it before, but games like Chrono Trigger and FFVI are far too valuable to put out on the VC right now. There are tons of people that would pay full price for straight ports of these games so why give them away for cheap?
