If there wasn't the promise of getting a derivative fantasy movie hashed together from my stories, then I wouldn't be a writer.

That's not right "crazy" and "pot head" in the same paragraph, but I've never seen a crazy person smoke weed.

Back to the topic. I don't like horror movies because I am intelligent and the people in the movie are usually really fucking idiotic. I can't get into a movie if I'm questioning thier pathetic judgement giving a survival scenerio.

I'm sick of Will Ferrell too. Once you see one of his movies you've seen them all and he's the furthest thing from funny. Carell is a bit easier to handle, but not really funny either. "Evan Almighty" was ok.
At this point, comic book movies are a bit overkill. They're bound to keep coming though, since there's so many comic characters.
I'm not a fan of parody movies. If I have to see them that means there's NOTHING else.
Fantasy movies done right can be good. Some have just been terrible.

I am sick of "Movie" movies. Not Another Teen Movie was fantastic and Scary Movie had a few funny moments, but fuck everything else - Date Movie, Superhero Movie, Epic Movie, the Scary Movies sequels, The Comebacks, and Meet The Spartans.
No one writes good parodies anymore, they just string together obvious jokes and pop cultures references that are dated by the time the movie comes out. Case in point: Epic Movie had a parody of "Lazy Sunday" in it, long after that bit had become passes.

Because y'know, "Lazy Sunday" was so serious and in need of parodying to begin with.
Yeah, I hate those guys.

I only hate the Oscar dramas at the end of every year. Usually, especially last year, they're crap but because they star some respected actor with some respected director it gets showered with praise. Has Million Dollar Baby really changed the world? I don't know anyone who didn't see it then that has seen it now.
I'm fine with all the adaptations, remakes, etc. Fantasy films and even car racing movies are okay in my book because the track record is too good. Well, maybe not so much the racing films, but if Steve McQueen came back to life... Plus, the 80s fantasy films were enough for me to keep dreaming for a return to form. Alas, everyone is trying too hard to make LOTR and not make a damn movie, but a trailer for a movie. Golden Compass was one of the most lackluster fantasy films I've ever seen because it was nothing more than a commercial for the other films. But I won't hold it against the genre.
Parody movies, same thing. The people making them need to retire, but as soon as another Mel Brooks rises to the occasion they can be good again. Look at YouTube, that's where the better parodies are. If they took more time with them, they could be really good.

Agreed, Syd. I loved Scary Movie 1 (and 2), and NATM (I had the DVD years ago) but they're just getting tiring.
Besides, what do they have to parody now anyway?

The first 2 Scary Movies were produced by the Wayans (Shawn and Marlon) thats why they were so good.

David Zucker and Mel Brooks knew how to do parody. All this force fed nonsense they do every year annoys the piss out of me

I wish M. Night Shyamalan would stop making movies. They're not complex or deep.

I'd just like to state that I'm one of probably ten people in the world that liked The Village.

Shyamalan is a very talented director but he's a fucking awful writer. He needs to direct someone else's script for once. A Shyamalan directed Indiana Jones movie would have been interesting.
But no, he just wastes his time with mystical, spiritual bullshit. What a waste.
Also, I'd just like to state that I'm one of probably ten people in the world that liked Indy 4.

I liked the Village. I really liked it while I was watching it, but now that I have seen it, I don't go out of my way to watch it. I just don't think its one of those movies I would watch over and over again.

Very true. I think the only one of Shyamalan's movies I didn't like was his new one, The Happening. It was terrible. I kind of figured it would be since 1) Mark Wahlberg is in it, and 2) in the preview they were hyping it up with "M. Night Shyamalan's FIRST R-RATED MOVIE!"
However, I really liked Signs (though when you find out about the water thing, it's a retarded concept), The Sixth Sense, Lady in the Water, and Unbreakable. They were all good movies, where parts of the storyline end up pissing me right off. So I guess it's kind of win/lose with that guy.

Oh yeah, I love that. It being R-RATED FUCK suddenly makes it more legitimate and groundbreaking. What a joke.

I like Shyamalan's movies, including Signs and the Village, but if he did Indy 4, it would most likey be made as a murder mystery or something.

Nevermind, M. Night apparently tried writing a script for Indy 4 according to Wiki. Thank god that fell through.

I can basically sum it up for me by saying that I like most of the older parody movies, but very few of the new ones.

I'm getting tired of video game-based movies. I mean, the first Mortal Kombat movie was kind of okay, and the second and third Resident Evil movies were sort of okay, but thanks to Super Mario Bros., Street Fighter, and EVERYTHING that Uwe Boll comes up with, I'm beginning to think that maybe it's just safer if people don't make movies based on video games to begin with.
