I dunno if this is better posted here or in General but whatever, move it if you don't like it.
I don't know how many of you guys visit Something Awful, but I've been checking it everyday for a few years now and I gotta say, it's going downhill fast. It used to be genuinely funny with good articles and features and I would honestly be laughing to hard to keep reading from some things they posted, but ever since they got all these new writers, it's turned into pointless rambling. The articles aren't even about anything anymore, sometimes I swear they're just writing stream of consciousness style and putting down whatever springs to mind. The only half decent features anymore are FashionSWAT, Photoshop Fridays and the ROM pit. Anybody else know what I mean?

I haven't really read anything on Something Awful in a good while. I stopped for a long time because it just wasn't that funny, and all my favorite writers left and soon it was Zack Parsons every other day and I couldn't take it.
I went back last night just to poke around the Comedy Goldmine for everyone's "retarded people at Wal-Mart/hotels/theme parks/commercial districts" stories. It, the ROM Pit and the Flash Tub (sometimes) are all that's any good these days.
The SA forums is also full of the most bitter, hateful people I've ever seen. Like, way more than the Cracked comment boxes.
Of course, maybe Something Awful actually IS still funny... and I'm just getting harder to please.

Something Awful's best articles were written by Lowtax in the height of the Cliff Yablonski / JeffK era, around 2001-2003. Nearly everything else on the site is utter shit.
I think you summed it up perfectly, they're joking about nothing now. Oh, funny college paper jokes! Heh heh bong water, because every successful student reads shitty books like The Mayor of Casterbridge and smokes weed hehe 
Funny literature jokes.

Exactly, some of the things Lowtax wrote were hilarious, I remember a "Know Your Apartment Complex Neighbors Without Ever Meeting Them" guide by him that killed me the first time I read it. And Cliff Yablonski was awesome, didn't care for Jeff K much but whatever.

Eh, the rant sites go in their phases. Cracked will replace Something Awful for a while, then the good writers will be replaced by daily Gladstone pieces, and something will take Cracked's place.

Gladstone rules! I love "Hate By Numbers".
Also, I agree with MM about Jeff K and Cliff Yablonski. Those two things and Photoshop Phriday were the only things that I found enjoyable. I was never a big fan of SA, and it seems as if they're only getting worse.

I'm a forum member and I really don't read the Something Awful's "front page" material such as featured articles and etc. I think the forums are a better place if you look for a good laugh. And it can be said that even the forums are going "downhill"; even the overall Photoshop manipulation quality on images have dropped. But it's a very large society, and there's still really good stuff in there. If you have an account, I suggest you to take a look at the Goldmined threads, especially the "JC TENTON" thread, which almost killed me. I'm not sure but the "jhonny.jpg" should thread also be goldmined, so I suggest you to check it as well.
JC TENTON thread was the most funny thing I've ever seen on the net, btw..
