Now, I actually really like Aerosmith. As far as straight-up American rock bands go, you really can't do much better than Aerosmith. They're like the American equivalent of the Stones.
But the game retails for $10 more than GH3 originally did and it only has 41 songs in it... and that includes the 10 bonus songs. Considering that Guitar Hero III had 73 songs, that's pretty fucking gay.
And this is in spite of the fact that they included non-Aerosmith songs to pad the tracklisting. Not only that, but many of Aerosmith's more famous touring partners - KISS, Megadeth, Motley Crue, Guns N' Roses - don't have tracks in the game. Hell, I wouldn't have minded a Fuel song either, just for the sake of an extra track. If you're gonna build a game around Aerosmith, give us a shitload of Aerosmith. Otherwise, just release the fucking songs as DLC.
Hopefully Activision learns from this worthless pile of crap and Guitar Hero: Metallica turns out better. But I wouldn't count on it.
I had a feeling this would be bad. I haven't seen the song list from the game yet. But Aerosmith has had 59 singles released, not including re-releases (60 if you include Walk This Way with Run-DMC). I knew they wouldn't include them all. I'm sure there may have been some that wouldn't have made for a good song on GH, though I may be wrong. But with the amount of songs they released, there could have been much more than 41 songs or whatever.
Personally, I want to see a Guns N' Roses GH where Chinese Democracy makes up the unlockable tracks. Actually, even though I was joking, that would be a good game if GNR had a larger collection of singles.

There's a couple of songs in the game that WEREN'T singles. Like Uncle Salty.
Honestly, I think it's weird that GNR has a track in GH3 and not one in Rock Band. Axl has control of the band's catalog , and Rock Band would serve his interests a lot better than GH3, seeing as he's a singer and not a guitar hero. Actually, I think he may have played guitar on Dead Horse.
DragonForce is awesome hands down. Speed Metal is now one of my favortie kinds.

I bet Syd one american dollar that Guitar Hero Metallica will contain no songs before the Load album.
Actually, I think it will contain probably contain half the Black Album.
-Enter Sandman
-Sad but True
-Unforgiven
-Wherever I may Roam
These songs are a lock. "Through the Never" would be a good addition, but it's not that well known.
"Wolfman's got nards!"
You must defeat Sheng Long to stand a chance!

They could definitely stand to include a Minibosses track or two.
And DragonForce is practically video game music.
OCR > Minibosses & DragonForce.
Edit: Although OCR is 99.9% drum & bass shit. So I guess Minibosses can slide.

I am guessing it will be the St. Anger album and nothing else.
The game will also come with a tin trash can, so you can replicate Lars' drumming on that album.
Thank you for that.

I extrapolated the suckage from the lack of "Eat The Rich."
I was actually thinking about something, Aerosmith are pretty much video game whores aren't they? There was this, Revolution X, and they've probably had tracks on Grand Theft Auto games or something right?
Honestly, I was never hot for this idea. Probably because I'm not into Aerosmith very much. Which is surprising considering a) I was playing Revolution X in the arcade before I was even into metal, and b) how much 70's rock I listen to. I would point the reason for this squarely at the awful NSYNC and Britney Spears halftime show 7 years back. I don't think I ever forgave them for that, and I probably never will.
There are a lot of what if's in life Donny. What if I hit you really hard in the face, knocked yo shit to the back of yo skull? What if I....had you girl gargle my nuts? The fact remains, you are a fuckin mutant.

Ah yes, the old argument as to whether or not the DragonForce guys are as good as they seem. Honestly, who cares? The studio tracks sound amazing, and they sound decent live:
Being a technically flawless guitarist don't mean shit if you can't write hooks. Look at Buckethead. Buckethead is a great guitarist, but no one fucking cares because he writes obnoxious avant garde bullshit. And don't get me started on Malmsteen. Good for you guy, your technical skill is unmatched. Too bad your songs are all boring.

QFT. If he would get his bucket out of his ass, he could be fucking amazing. Instead he is a novelty. If he didn't have a gimmick, half the people wouldn't know who he is. Which is sad because he has some skills.

I enjoy Buckethead and Malmsteen a hell of a lot more than DragonForce.
Vai and Satriani own all of them though.

it's probably a test to see if people would be willing to spend a hundred dollars for less. kind of like how microsoft tested us last gen with all those special edition games to see if they could get away with upping the price of 360 games by ten bucks.
also, guitar hero metallica won't contain ANY music. it's actually gonna be playable transcripts of their therapy sessions and court cases.

The Wii version will also contain a mini game where you have to use the Wii Wheel to steer a bus and... oh, nevermind.
I just had a thought. Wasn't a Metallica game announced like a decade ago? Maybe Guitar Hero: Metallica will replace it/is it.

I honestly find their music pretty mediocre. The lyrics sound like they came straight out of a bad anime and all their songs pretty much sound exactly the same as last to me. Also, I find that they sound terrible live. Herman's all out of tune trying to look cool by playing overhand (badly) while making stupid faces and drumer sound like a fucking drum machine.
On the subject of Buckethead, a lot of his work sounds pretty terrible but he does have good songs. [1][2]
Malmsteen however... Well, yeah. Have you seen him lately? It looks like he unleashed the fury at McDonalds.
