You didn't say "gameplay". You don't make movies based on games from their "gameplay". Movies don't have "gameplay". That doesn't make any fucking sense.

Video game movies are usually (loosely) based on the game's plot, not the gameplay. Both video game movies I can think of that have attempted to incorporate actual gameplay, Doom and House of the Dead, are EPIC FAIL.

That's still just footage directly referencing the gameplay (or more accurately the PoV). It's not in itself "the gameplay."

There is no single definition for gameplay, Richo. Gameplay is a combination of many aspects in a game's creation, not just the fucking buttons you push on the controller.

And none of those aspects are in the movies, nor could they be. That's why there's a term for it in games. In said movies, there's no learning curve, no ammo conservation, no levels, no continues. There's a reason people say "gameplay footage" for a video and not just "gameplay", because a non-interactive video of something, no matter how based on the gameplay it is, by definition ceases to be gameplay!

Longer answer: There wasn't a topic to begin with, or at least the OP discounted his own idea as a joke! I made a generously serious response and the guy is like "conversely wth r u talking about". Don't make the topic if you don't want responses.
Answer after considerable thought: I think my desire to derail stems from having flunked out of train engineer school.
