I hated Miami Vice, the entire movie was nothing but a trite exercise about looking cool in nightclubs.

As for over rated, A Beautiful Mind. It won best picture Oscar in 2001, now no one even mentions it. Fuck trying to romanticize that piece of shit Anti-Semite John Nash.

Underrated, my favorite movie, Big Trouble in Little China. This movie had action, great humor, good atmosphere, the grandpa from three ninjas; it was the entire package. In fact, a ton of John Carpenter movies are under rated.

Ghosts of Mars was under rated.

Also, Japanese and Korean cinema is under rated in the States, or practically unheard of. Oasis is an amazing movie. Old Boy. Dirty Carnival. Sympathy for Mr. Vengence. Hana-bi. Kikujiro. Sontaine. Tae Guk Gi.

For a change of pace, an underrated movie is "Deep Impact", but I was watching this again two days ago. It is fucking horrible! Thank God no one remembers it. While people may dislike "Armageddon" at least it isn't so stilted, generic, and dull like DI.

Speaking of Impact, Double Impact with JCVD was great, too.

Agreed. Edit: That thread doesn't state my opinion of "Double Impact", but it lived up to expectations.

Overrated-

Godfather- Oh fuck you, it was a borefest. The acting was superb and the story wonderful, but I just can't get through the damn thing.

There Will Be Blood- What the fucking fuck? Why is this praised so highly? Boring, confusing, and full of its self.

Dr Strangelove- Boring too. Maybe I have ADD, but this movie just lacks.

Easy Rider- Mediocre acting, poor camera shots, weak story, and just reeks of the sixties. The ending is alright, but not shocking.

The Departed- Fuck, I have ADD. This was so boring. Not enough action scenes, and it was convoluted

Underrated-

Small Soldiers- Decent effects, humor, and story. It's a great kids movie and not too bad as you get older.

Speed Racer- Amazing effects, a good story, strong acting, a monkey, and just great fun. Leave your brain, and enjoy.

Both 'Hulk's- The first one was good, ffs. A great look into Banner, and decent action. It's already been covered earlier, so I'll drop it. The second is the opposite of the first. Not an in depth look, but HULK SMASH!!!!!!!!!!!!

Zohan- It got shit on. It wasn't great, but it makes you grin, and it's just silly. A great rental, and watch with it pals.

Balls of Fury- Get high and enjoy the Walken.

Cry Baby- A very fun, over-the-top silly film with enjoyable music. I fucking love it.

Grindhouse- Not PF or RD, but just a great nod to the films of the '70s. It was supposed to be bad, and it was, which made it good....

There's more, most likely, but I'm tired.

You defend Zohan for making you grin but denounce Strangelove? The wheelchair-bound scientist didn't even register a smirk? Are you a zombie?

I had a little trouble the first time I ever watched it. Good but slow. But now I can watch it any time. Its probably in my all time top 50.

Overrated

Titantic
Top Gun
Easy Rider
Star Trek franchise
Lord of the Rings trilogy
Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy
Kill Bill Vol. 1 & 2

I could think of a lot more, but I'm tired. And an underrated movie list would be way too long.
