I got it. I think I would have to go back to the time when I was about 8 years old(1991) and bring myself an Xbox 360 with a TV to hook it up to. Than by doing that who knows what might have turned out differently? Also I would hook my past self up with some wireless internet from the future so I could play Gears of War against my younger self and see how I fared up when it came to video games back then. See, back then video games were WAY harder as everyone probably already knows, so I was probably a better gamer back then than I am now. That wa s way before I started smoking pot and I could remember patterns in games very well, and I had those quick reflexes only an 8 year old could have. And I would definitely go back to when I got my first copy of Battletoads for the NES when it was first released and relive that moment again.

What would you do with a time machine?

You can argue that Butterfly Effect is not a time travel film...

Why would you need a time machine to do that? I can do it now: Butterfly Effect was all a dream and therefore no time travel.

I don't really believe that. And I prefer the theatrical ending because it was more plausible.

Yeah, I do suppose there was no actual time travel in that movie. But it does present the idea, like "wouldn't it be cool to go back and change something?" and stuff like that. Also my bad, I think I posted this in the video games section first. I suppose I would also bring myself a badass DVD player with all the episodes of the Mario bros. cartoon series.

NOTE: Dont bother reading if you dont care about the butterfly effect movie or you're lazy. Sorry for the "narrative".

My interpretation of the butterfly effect is:

I like to think that the main character has a mental disorder similar to DID, if not DID itself. DID stands for Dissociative Identity Disorder, it was originally called Multiple Personality Disorder. A person with this disorder can have different personalities, each with their own different memories. He shows all the symptoms of the disorder which apparently he got from his dad. Notice when he changes something in the "past" and comes back to the "present" and everything is different, that the people around him see that something is different about him and tell him that he acts weird. Thats when the personality we know snaps in and the personality they know changes. I think he also has Schizophrenia because at the end the doctor he repeatly sees, tells him that most of the other characters we see in the film dont exist. But one could argue thats because he time travelled. Anyway, Im not saying this is right or anything, this is just my interpretation of the film. I could go with the time travel theory of it too. ANyway, if you got this far in the paragraph then you passed year 7 english.

Also, the movie Primer is friggen awesome for what it is.

Very Happy

I've only seen BttF1 and most of 2.

If I could time travel first I'd try that thing in BttF2 with that sports almond act (I seriously can't spell.) Then I'd get myself to befriend cooler people 'cuz some of my friends are losers.

ROFL! almond act. lol

I wonder if getting an almanac from the future would work. What I mean is that the first game you bet on using it would be spot on, but if you bet big money and it turns up on the front page of the paper because you won, then maybe it could alter the rest of the almanac because no one won that game from the future you visited.

But according to another time travel theory, you already won it according to the future you visited.

Urgghhh, Time Travel...

I would just go back to 1985 with about 5 grand. (Yes, I would make sure the bills were from 85 or earlier.) Then, I would spend all 5 grand in stocks on a little mostly unkown, up and coming company called Microsoft. I would then come back to good old 2008, and SELL!!! SELL!!! SELL!!!

Easiest way to make money, without creating any major ripples in the timeline.

I would probably travel trough the future in jumps of 100 years. Just to look around and see how things have changed. The fact that I'll never know what the world will look like in a thousand years or so has always bugged me.

I would only use a time machine to go to the future and buy DVDs. That's it. I wouldn't even try to make them in the past. Although I might try to befriend one or two of the more successful filmmakers.

If you go by the basis of the movie, since you have a book from the future if anything changed it would change in the book, kind of like the newspaper articles in BttF2.

If Butterfly Effect is on the list why isn't Donnie Darko. That movie was awesome.

Then I should go to the future and find my obituary and keep doing things to change it. That sounds like a Final Destination movie.

Yea but if you change the date of your death, the article won't be of much use to you anymore.

Yup! I never said it was full proof, but if you changed the obit it would then belong to someone else or be filler in the paper.

Man, I believe in the theory that there is no future so if time travel was possible you couldn't go forward, only back.

What's always bugged me, is that if you traveled into the past, changed sometime, and then came back, you would now be in an alternate timeline. Does the original timeline still exist? Is it like a parallel dimension to the altered one, or does the altered one overwrite the original permentally?
